Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ. Colossians 4: 2-3.

Dear Mission Prayer Partners,

God's day to you. These are exciting days all around us. Schools throughout the Southeastern District are back in session. More than 5000 children are gathering in the classrooms of our congregations to grow in every way - especially the most important - faith in Christ Jesus. Hundreds of workers are preparing to teach these children in subject areas that will equip them for a hopeful future that is yet to be developed. Not only are we blessed to have good teachers in our Lutheran schools, we also have good Lutheran teachers in schools throughout our communities. I invite you to join with me in prayer these next days for all who are involved in the education of our young people, that they will be bold witnesses to the love

I especially lift up to you the following schools:

  1. 1. Emmanuel Lutheran Preschool and Child Development Center, Hampton VA opens their doors this day (Tuesday, September 4). We pray for Director Sheila Creech and the staff at Emmanuel. We remember the children who have already enrolled, and give God thanks for all the children who will become a part of this ministry.

  2. Open Arms at New Hope, Chesterfield VA has been working hard to grow forward in reaching families with young children. They are beginning this school term with more than 140 students enrolled. This has been quite a journey and Director Chrissy Campbell is growing a wonderful team of workers who will nurture these children and teach them all about the love of Jesus.

  3. Our high schools: Baltimore Lutheran, University Christian High (Hickory), and Risen Christ (Myrtle Beach). We pray that each of these schools will be filled with students who are eager to learn and ready to engage the learning process in their study and serving.
  4. Our elementary and middle schools: that each one be a thriving center of education and discovery, a place where the light of the Gospel shines.

  5. Our early childhood programs: that each little one learns how much Jesus loves them and that they are able to share these simple words of faith in their families.

As always, I thank God for you and your work of prayer. They are making an eternal difference.

10:02 am Prayers for the Harvest and Workers
Don't forget to set your cell phones alarm/alert to 10:02 a.m. and pray for the Harvest and Workers. Luke 10:2 Jesus told them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."
