What would a Maine winter be without wind, fog and rainstorms followed by blizzards and sub zero temperatures?
 
You've got to love it!!  Or, you've got to plan a trip somewhere warm!
 
When you're driving along a Maine road in the winter time you are likely to see children bundled in about 8 layers jumping off of or rolling down the sides of snowbanks, snow mobiles zipping across fields, families sledding down steep hills, and ice fishing shacks lining the rivers and ponds.  Whatever your pleasure, we're in Maine and by default, we're winter people.

In the past, the Hope scholarship credit was available for the first two years of post-secondary education.  Under the new law, the AOC is allowed for the first four years of post-secondary education. 
Please contact your accountant to learn more about these and other education tax incentives.
 
First Time Home Buyers Credit

The deadline has been expanded from November 30, 2009 to April 30, 2010.
 
 
First time home buyers qualify for $8,000 and long-time residents are now eligible for a maximum credit of $6,500.  The new law also increased the income limits for people purchasing homes after November 6, 2009.  For 2010 purchases, the credit may be claimed on a taxpayers 2009 OR 2010 return.
