Shamrocks
March 17th, around 461 AD, marks the passing of Maewyn Succat, later known as Saint Patrick, viewed by many as the patron saint of Ireland and a hero to the Irish people.  His use of a shamrock to teach the concept of the "Holy Trinity" along with the traditional Celtic belief that 3 is a sacred number are a couple of reasons that the shamrock has become an iconic symbol of the modernized St. Patty's Day.

NATP: IRS Explains How to File to Claim the Rebate

For eligible individuals (or married couples filing jointly) who are not required to file an income tax return, but who had qualifying income in 2007 that equals or exceeds $3,000, the IRS will treat a Form 1040A for 2007 as a valid claim for refund in the amount of the 2008 economic stimulus payment.

If your 2007 tax return is automatically deposited into your bank account your stimulus payment will automatically be deposited into the same account.  Be sure not to close the account you used for direct deposit until after you receive your stimulus payment.

Managing Cash Flow
Tom Muller
Management Advisor

You own a business to make a profit and focus much of your attention on that objective.  However, if there is no money in the checkbook, it may be difficult in the short run to stay in business.  Cash management is important for survival and may, at some point in a company's life, take priority over profit.

There are two parts to managing cash flow.  First, you need to understand and be able to project how and when cash will be received and spent.  Second, you need to take steps within several categories of revenue and expenditure to optimize timing and amounts.

A Warning from the IRS:

There are currently a number of telephone and email scams circulating, claiming that they are the IRS, in an attempt to gain your personal identification and banking information.  These are NOT standard forms of communication used by the IRS.  If ever the IRS needs to reach you, they will do so in a formal letter delivered by the US Postal Service.

If you receive a notice from the IRS, in any form, we ask that you please contact your accountant to ensure a prompt and appropriate response.
