We're very pleased to send you the Spring Edition of the Georgia Purchaser. In addition to our regular features updating you on day-to-day activities at State Purchasing, this issue also includes some timely advice on managing procurement risk. As always, be sure to look at the exciting training opportunities available over the next couple of months. You'll see that we've enhanced eQuote and are offering a webinar and additional eQuote training around the state. Check our website as we continue to add programs, staff and contracts for your use.

| SPD Helps Georgia Earn B+ in
Governmental Performance |
| Governing Magazine and the PewCenter on the States hand out governmental performance report cards each year for all 50 states. This year Georgia's overall grade is B+, with only three states receiving higher grades. The Contracting/Purchasing process, which has undergone major renovations under the Procurement Transformation Initiative, was singled out as one of Georgia's strengths. Training Updates |

Training Opportunities Abound in the
Last Quarter of FY08
We are happy to report that from July 1 of FY08 to now, SPD has held 82 training classes with a total of 1,279 attendees. Thank you for your continued support and for your participation in the training events. Our upcoming training schedule is filled with more courses and more training classes. For more information on upcoming classes, check the Course Schedules page at the SPD Web site.
In addition to the regular courses, we're highlighting an NIGP class: Effective Contract Writing on April 14-15. It is a two-day class. To view the course descriptions and registration form for this NIGP course, visit the SPD Course Schedules Web page.

| eQuote enhancements are now available |

The State Purchasing Division (SPD) is pleased to announce the release of eQuote Enhancements - Phase II. With the March 31st implementation, eQuote has matured from a very simple tool used for small value bids under $10,000 to a robust electronic quote program complete with many levels of functionality and options. >>Summary of enhancements. >>Go to eQuote Website.

| March was Purchasing Month |
Governor Perdue declared March as Purchasing Month. Representatives from SPD, joined by members of the Georgia Chapter of NIGP, visited Governor Sonny Perdue on March 7th, as he signed a proclamation naming March as "Purchasing Month" in Georgia.

Georgia Department of Economic Development Procurement Manager, Avon Thompson, will compete for the National Professional Purchasing Manager of the Year Award.
Congratulations to Avon Thompson, Procurement Manager for the Georgia Department of Economic Development, for winning the Georgia Chapter of NIGP award for "Professional Purchasing Manager of the Year - 2007." Avon, who also holds CPPO and CPPB certifications, will go to the National Forum in Charlotte, North Carolina in July to compete for the "National Professional Purchasing Manager of the Year - 2008." Good luck Avon!
