On Mother's Day Sunday, May 11th members of the church will have the opportunity to once again honor their mothers and/or other women who have been of significant influence in their lives through a special Mother's Day Offering.

This year's offering will be dedicated to children around the world who are neglected, abandoned and orphaned - children who are hungry, sick and in need of help for their education.  The funds will also be used in initiatives to help women, trapped in poverty, create a better home environment for their children.  We will reach the children and women through the various mission programs sponsored by our West Texas mission teams.  Envelopes and cards will be in the Parish Hall for you to pick up.

US FlagWe have begun a new ministry at St. Paul's by Adopting a US Soldier.  SPC Mike Moran has been assigned to St. Paul's by the Adopt a US Soldier organization.  Carl Reicherzer made the initial contact with the organization and announced the new ministry at both Masses on April 6th.  The congregation has responded wonderfully and two packages were sent to Mike on April 14.  He would probably appreciate hearing from members of the congregation.  His address is on the front of the collection box in the parish hall.  Including a self addressed envelope, without a stamp, would make it easier for Mike to answer our letters.  Check out the following website for more info:

2008 $1 Million Giveaway to Fight Hunger

Good News:

Our Lord's Table
will be participating in the Alan Shawn Feinstein matching funds giveaway to fight hunger.  The more donations we get between March 1st and April 30th, the more of the Feinstein money we will receive.  Donations can include cash, checks, food items will be valued at $1.00 per item or pound, as well as pledges.  All gifts should be marked for "Our Lord's Table" and dated along with your name for verification.

Feinstein's past $1 million challenges to fight hunger have raised $760 million for food programs nationwide.  St. Paul's a laudable job feeding our less fortunate neighbors.  We can increase our ability to do this scripturally mandated work by joining with Mr. Feinstein in this campaign to fight hunger.

John Pyeatt, Director

Our Lord's Table

College and Young Adult Ministry

Vocare has been resurrected in the Diocese of West Texas; Vocare weekend #24 will be held May 16 - 18 at Camp Capers.  There is a link to the registration and information forms on the diocesan website at http://dwtx.org/index.php/diocese/Youth%20College.  Vocare is a Renewal weekend aimed at college age and young people - sophomores in college through 30 years of age.  There is limited space, so register early, and if you need information contact Stacy Dowdy; stacy.dowdy@dwtx.org or 888/210-824-5387.

Camp Capers Scholarships:  If you have parishioners who are in need of a scholarship for Camp Capers, the process is very simple.  Have the parishioner fill out the registration form and send it in to Brenda at Capers, then the rector of the church simply needs to notify Brenda that the family is requesting scholarship assistance.  This may be done by mail or email - no forms or letters to fill out.  Brenda will then begin the process.  The normal process asks the family to provide 1/3, the family parish 1/3, and the diocese 1/3.  If you have a family who truly cannot provide their portion, please let Brenda know and we will see if other arrangements can be made.

Mustang Island Family Camp Scholarships:  Scholarships forFamily Camp are also available. The procedure for application will be the same, with the registration going to Nita at MICC, and the parish rector notifying her of the need.  The 1/3 policy also applies here.

Mustang Island Family Camp 2008 will begin with the Clergy Family Camp, Sunday June 8 through Wednesday, June 11.  Cost for a DWTX family of 5 is $525, including all meals. Other dates available on the website at www.mustangisland.org or contact Nita Shaver at nita.shaver@dwtx.org or 361-749-1800.  See flyer in Bulletin Board.
