Dear
It's time for a break, you've earned it! This month we are sending you a light hearted but inspirational summer resource to uplift you even if you are still hard at work in an office on a rainy day.
When things don't turn out the way I hoped I find it really helpful to remind myself of some of these facts:
Winston Churchill failed the 11 plus.
When Thomas Edison was a boy his teachers told him he was too stupid to learn anything.
A newspaper editor fired Walt Disney because he had 'no good ideas'.
Beethoven's music teacher said "As a composer he is hopeless."
Louisa May Alcott was told by an editor she could never write anything with popular appeal.
So next time you feel that your talents are not always recognised or appreciated remember you are not alone and keep going! |

1. Regard any new idea from below with suspicion -because a) it's new and b) it's from below! 2. Insist that people who need your approval to take action have to go through several other levels of management first and collect all their signatures. 3. Ask departments or individuals to criticise each other's ideas and proposals -this saves you the hard work, you can just select the last person standing. 4. Withhold your praise and express criticism freely -this keeps people on their toes. You may also want to let them know that you might just fire them at anytime. 5. When people let you know that something isn't working in their area treat this as a sign of their personal failure. They'll soon stop bothering you.

As each bird flaps its wings it creates an 'uplift' for the bird following. By flying in a 'V' formation the whole flock adds up to 71% to the flying range than if each bird flew alone. Result: People who share common purpose and direction get where they are going much more quickly and easily when they work together. Whenever a goose falls out of formation it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of trying to fly alone and quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird immediately in front. Result: None of us are as smart as all of us.
