Welcome to summer! It is a great time to slow down the hectic work pace and catch up on projects. The ELP office and the ELP Alumni Board have several projects going on to strengthen the program and we appreciate the time and input many of you have already offered in our endeavors.
The Leadership Book Project is in full swing. We have received some very enlightening essays from our fellows and we are in the process of collecting more data for the book through focus groups. We had one group meet on June 19, and a second one is scheduled for July 24. We may have one more, so keep on the lookout for another email.
The other project is a total make-over of the leaders website (hallelujah). Tomeeka Farrington '06 of Spotlight Communications is assisting us with this hefty project and we are very excited to get this underway. Part of the project is the brainchild of the '07 team project called Alumnet - designed as a means of retaining young professionals in Massachusetts. Members of this team created a website for our Alum, and we would like to work towards implementing their ideas and make the site available to you as a networking resource and a primary means of being informed about ELP opportunities. Also, a focus group has been scheduled to meet on July 22 from 5:30-7:30 to be led by Kim Proctor '04 of Customers that Click to come up with more ideas for this part of the website.
The alumni board is hard at work as well creating program ideas, social events, and ways and means of keeping us connected (see Get Linked In!). Do you have an idea you would like to share? Please feel free to send your thoughts to Isabel Hardy, chair of the alumni board.
May you all be able to "get out of dodge" for a few weeks this summer!
Cheers,
ELP Staff & Alumni Board

Chris Wickles, '08, Citizens Bank invites you to the World's Greatest Backyard Athlete Competition at this year's Life is good Festival on Boston Common, to be held on July 19th. Life is good Festivals rally good people around a great cause. All festivals are free to the general public. Money is raised through the national sales of Life is good festival merchandise, festival sponsorships, personal donations at the festivals, and additional Life is good monetary donations for the Life is good Kids Foundation; helping kids who face unfair challenges, including the trauma of violence and poverty. Backyard Athletes are the heart and soul of the Festival. Athletes will compete for the coveted crown of World's Greatest Backyard Athlete by spitting watermelon seeds, tossing Frisbees, playing bocce balls and cranking Wiffle balls and kickballs over our replica Green Monster. | Recruitment Update: special thank you to our ELP recruiters |
The ELP staff wishes to extend a HUGE thank you to Mark O'Connor '05, recruitment chair; Bridget Hindle '08; Stephen Finocchio '06; and Craig Williams, '07, for volunteering their time to attend the ELP information sessions and speaking so passionately about the program. We had 27 people attend the sessions, and we are convinced that after listening to Mark, Bridget, Stephen, and Craig the attendees are bound to apply.
Also, thank you to Eduardo Crespo '04 for assisting the ELP with an information session venue.

Brief History of ELP |
|
The Emerging Leaders Program is an executive training program for professionals in the Greater Boston area. In the program fellows enhance their leadership skills and learn how to work effectively with other leaders toward specific goals. Each fall, a group of "fellows" is chosen for a 10-month program involving a weeklong seminar, followed by monthly meetings and team projects. At its conclusion, fellows have honed their individual leadership skills in several areas, including communication, conflict resolution, the political process, entrepreneurship, media relations, networking, and teamwork.
