Dear ELP Alumni:
In only six years, the Emerging Leaders Program Alumni Network has grown to 245 members strong. If you think about the individual networks that each Alumni brings, our group represents hundreds of thousands of connections across the City of Boston and beyond!
To ensure a strong and growing ELP Network, an Alumni Board meets monthly to plan social, networking and other special opportunities to help keep us collaborating, informed and connected. Board meetings alternate each month between in-person meetings and conference calls.
As the outgoing Board Chair, I invite all of you to consider taking on a leadership role within the ELP Alumni Network. Please click this link to find the various roles and responsibilities of Alumni Board members. Now through March 5, we will be accepting nominations for the 2008 Alumni Board. I encourage you to nominate yourself or fellow alum. If multiple candidates are interested in the same position, we will conduct voting through an on-line process. In past years, we have only had one slate of candidates, so voting was not required. Either way, the election process will be communicated.
If you are interested in getting involved, would like to nominate someone or would like to know more about any particular position, please let me know. The new Alumni Board will be introduced at a special event we're planning on the evening of Wednesday, March 19 at Artists for Humanity.
Thanks, and I hope to see many of you at the Boston Common Frog Pond for our ELP Ice Skating Social Monday, February 25!
Best,
Jen Waldner

Nayenday Thurman '08 BRA was just elected President of the Pan Hellenic Council - Boston Chapter (National Council of the nine Black Greek Lettered Organizations). This year the Boston Chapter has elected to begin planning an event called Welcome to Massachusetts. In its first year, Welcome to Massachusetts will be geared toward people of color that are new to Massachusetts or may have been here a few years but have not made in roads in Massachusetts and do not know where to start. We are looking for participation from companies and organizations that serve people of color and/or are looking to recruit within communities of color. I would appreciate contact information for anyone interest in participating in the planning, sponsoring, and/or execution of this event. Again, this is currently in the planning stages and I am seeking all possible input to make this a great and successful event. If interested in participating and/or more details, please contact Nayenday Thurman at 978-987-7341 or via email nayblount@aol.com.

Brief History of ELP |
|
The Emerging Leaders Program is an executive training program for professionals in the Greater Boston area. In the program fellows enhance their leadership skills and learn how to work effectively with other leaders toward specific goals. Each fall, a group of "fellows" is chosen for a 10-month program involving a weeklong seminar, followed by monthly meetings and team projects. At its conclusion, fellows have honed their individual leadership skills in several areas, including networking, communication, conflict resolution, the political process, entrepreneurship, media relations, and teamwork.
