ARTIST OF THE MONTH: RIKKI HERTZ
Rikki attended the College of Visual Arts in St. Paul, MN. She received her BFA in Fine Arts. She currently works and produces her art in Asheville, NC. Artist's Statement:
I would currently define my artwork as abstract landscapes, full of color and movement filled with words, lines and underlying context, reflecting many ideas collected along the way. I work with ink and oil on wood, drawn to the natural forms in the grain and incorporating them into images. I also create terrariums, ecosystems in a jar. I try to put all the beauty of the forest into my terrariums. I use moss, lichen, ferns, trees, all types of forest friends to create miniature landscapes. The jars are almost self-sustaining, requiring little or no care. You can also see further art work and more terrariums at the Grove Arcade Portico Market on Sundays, or stop in to True Blue Art Supply and the nearby Tree Gallery and Gifts. | |
