Line 9: Incident Narrative - TOC has been following several incidents this weekend. 2 major incidents have affected both CONUS and OCONUS Correctional facilities.
CONUS: - California DOC
A Pelican Bay State Prison riot that broke out in an exercise yard Friday was stopped by correctional officers after a number of inmates had been stabbed, and one was shot.
After the incident eight prisoners were in need of medical attention -- one of whom was shot through the shoulder by an officer's Mini-14 .223 caliber rifle. They were taken to an outside hospital and treated. None of the injuries were lethal.
Approximately 40 inmates were involved in the riot, The incident was resolved within 5 mins. No staff were reported injured during the incident.
OCONUS: - Canada Correctional Service
A correctional services officer was the target of an alleged murder plot uncovered this week.The Maplehurst Detention Centre employee, NAME Classified at this time Mara Salvatrucha-13. is believed to be linked to the assignation plot.
Several alleged conspirators were arrested earlier this week along with 13 others in a series of pre-dawn raids intent on dismantling a local clique of the MS-13, which is described as one of the world's most vicious criminal organizations.
