Report to Congress Looks at Self-Insurance through Lens of Health Reform
Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), has issued a report that compares employers who self-insure the health benefits they provide employees to those employers who fully insure their plans by purchasing coverage. The report, which was mandated by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), also examines the impact that health insurance reform is likely to have on self-insured decisions by small and mid-size employers.
