Emma and Jessica clean bikes for repair
St. Paul Smart Trips staff and board members recently spent an afternoon volunteering with Free Bikes 4 Kidz, a program distributing 5,000 refurbished bikes to children in the metro area this holiday season. Our volunteer tasks included cleaning, tuning up and repairing several of the bikes donated to the program. See more photos of Smart Trips volunteers in action.

Thanks for Giving to the Max for St. Paul Smart Trips

Give to the Max Day logo Our thanks to the 50 generous donors who contributed $2,052 on Give to the Max Day, helping us fund more than $10,000 of programming with the help of our 4 to 1 match. We are pleased that so many individuals support our mission as we work together to improve access and mobility in St. Paul. Thanks also to those who have supported Smart Trips with your time and energy this past year. You are all valued partners.

St. Paul's Commuter Choice Award winners

Commuter Choice Award Winner
Commuter Choice Award winner Kelly Burroughs
Congratulations to this year's Commuter Choice nominees and winners. Two St. Paul area winners were among those honored at the Commuter Choice Awards luncheon last month.

Kelly Burroughs - Creative Commuting Ambassador
Kelly commutes from his home in Blaine to his job at U.S. Bank. His daily trek includes ten miles of biking and 36 miles of bus commuting to and from downtown St. Paul. A member of the U.S. Bank Green Team, Kelly promotes information to colleagues about sustainable commuting options and serves as a resource to those interested in bike and/or transit commuting.

Northern Brewer - Organization and Community Champion
Northern Brewer was recognized for a company-wide commitment to supporting bike commuters, providing facilities, sponsoring bike to work events and being involved in local neighborhoods to promote bicycling.

Each year, Smart Trips and our regional partners recognize organizations, employers and individuals for their efforts to promote and practice alternatives to driving alone, helping reduce congestion throughout the metro area.
