Finding a carpool partner just got easier!

Looking for ways to save some money with gas prices rising again?  Or maybe just some company to help break up the routine?

There's good news for you and metro-area commuters! Metro Transit is transitioning to a new online ridematching system to help make finding carpool matches easier.

The new service,  powered by GreenRide, was selected with the help of Smart Trips and other regional partners.

Among the new features:

  • Expanded profiles - Add photos, state your preferences and link up your Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn accounts.

  • E-mail alerts - Get notified by e-mail about potential carpool partners. You decide on how much account information to share.

  • Search within your workplace, and more!

Try it out: Set up a commuter profile now!

Winter Walk Off

Get up and get moving this month for the first annual Winter Walk Off - whether it's around your house, office or block!

Twin Cities Bike Walk Week is encouraging folks to walk, at least once a day, for the entire month. By registering for the Winter Walk Off you're pledging to not only walk once a day, but to share your winter walking stories with others on Twitter by using the Winter Walk Off hash tag (#winterwalkoff).

Those without Twitter or Facebook can share the old way - invite a friend to walk with you!
Registered winter walkers will receive great discounts from local businesses who support winter walking in the Twin Cities.

Get moving! Sign up for the Winter Walk Off

Communicating our best wishes

This month we bid farewell to a veteran staff member who has been instrumental in shaping the identity of our organization.

Brady Clark led us through our renaming and branding process and designed our logo. He's been the voice behind our monthly newsletters and his eye for interesting news and ability to break issues down into concise and compelling language has made our newsletter what it is.

Brady also co-developed and designed all of the materials for our Smart Trips Neighborhoods program, including the newsletters, calendars and maps that caught the attention of residents in three St. Paul neighborhoods and compelled them to try new ways of getting around St. Paul.

It goes without saying that we'll greatly miss Brady, and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors!
