Undergoing a major renovation and addition, this former Cape style home has been expanded with a new fresh contemporary look and a Deep Energy Retrofit.
ZeroEnergy Design is providing architecture, mechanical design, and energy consulting for the project, with construction and general contracting by Synergy Construction.
The project is well underway, with insulation complete, windows installed, roofing installed, and siding currently in progress.

BOSTON SOCIETY OF ARCHITECTS AWARD
|
ZED has been notified of winning an award under the 2012 BSA Small Firms/Small Projects Design Awards Program.
The sole judging criterion is design excellence. The jury is empowered to determine the extent to which design excellence is defined by aesthetic, functional, contextual, sustainability, social or other characteristics.
Formal presentation of the award to ZeroEnergy Design for the Passive House Retreat will be during the Jan 2013 BSA Awards Ceremony.

NY 2012 PASSIVE HOUSE SYMPOSIUM
|
The New York 2012 Passive House Symposium is a one day exploration of the many Passive House projects underway in the New York City area. The symposium will demonstrate how local architects, builders and owners are meeting the demanding Passive House standard, and making a substantive contribution to New York's climate change mitigation efforts.

FINE HOMEBUILDING"S TROUBLE WITH BUILDING SCIENCE

Fine Homebuilding's recent story puts the history of building science into perspective.
Professionals from across the nation were interviewed for the article including John Straube and Joe Lstiburek of Building Science Corporation, Martin Holladay of Green Building Advisor, Katrin Klingenberg of PHIUS, and our own Jordan Goldman of ZeroEnergy Design.

LEED 2012 POSTPONED AND RENAMED
|
LEED 2012 has now become LEED v4, due to overwhelming USGBC member requests to slow the process and increase transparency.
Major points as outlined by the USGBC:
- LEED 2012 ballot has been postponed until June 1, 2013.
- As a result of this change, the name of the program is now LEED v4.
- LEED v4 will include a fifth public comment running from October 2 through December 10.
- The USGBC is extending the time which LEED 2009 is available for registration.
- The USGBC is continuing to engage project teams in an upcoming beta test of LEED v4. More information on this process will soon be available.

DAS HAUS IS COMING TO CAMBRIDGE

dasHAUS is an exhibition that connects industry professionals in North America with the latest market-ready renewable and energy efficiency solutions from Germany.
The exhibition is from June 18-27 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge. Passive House New England has been instrumental in developing related events.
