| Certification for Green Affordable Homes |
|
Enterprise Community Partners has developed the Green Communities Criteria to specifically address certification for affordable green housing.
The criteria are purposefully aligned with the USGBC's LEED for Homes Program, but also customized to be a practical, cost sensitive solution to achieving third party certification for new green affordable housing. Originally produced in 2008, the criteria are continuing to evolve with another revision on the way.
ZeroEnergy Design, in partnership with Tohn Environmental, is authorized to act as a Technical Assistance Provider for developers who wish to implement the Green Communities Criteria.

| DOE R5 Window Purchase Program Now Launched |
Highly-Insulating (R-5) Windows and Low-e Storm Windows Volume Purchase Program
The program is now officially launched!
The U.S. Department of Energy's Building Technologies Program coordinated a volume purchase opportunity for R-5 windows, and low-e storm windows, to expand the market of these high efficiency products. The selection of vinyl windows includes a website interface with a very wide price range for each window size within which a large group of vendors fall. An accurate price still requires a quote from each vendor, however because of the commitment and competition, prices are likely to be lower than on the open market.
The DOE is presenting a free 90-minute webinar: "Cost-Effective Triple Pane (R-5) and Low-e Storm Windows: Available Now" on June 22 which is designed to explain how the program works.

| Energy Monitoring System Now Available |
|
The eMonitor, a newly released residential energy monitoring system, is now available on the open market. The system, produced by Powerhouse Dynamics of Newton MA, allows for individual circuit monitoring with regular updates via a web based interface. A future iPhone application is in the works.
If you are serious about monitoring the energy consumption of you home, it's worth taking a look at one of the few affordable circuit level monitoring systems available on the market. Competitive products like the TED 5000 are able to monitor multiple electrical panels and renewable energy systems, but do not provide circuit level monitoring.
Configurations, pricing, and installation details are available at the eMonitor's sole online reseller, Energy Circle.
