Lamb Residents are cooling off this summer with three one-week vacation packages called "Lamb Getaways."  In this issue, discover the many ways you can volunteer at Lamb, read about the formation of our Armed Services Veteran's group, and how to link into Lamb's newly expanded calendar of activities, sales, and more. Plus, we celebrate our 20th Anniversary on Saturday, September 29, at 7 p.m. with guest speaker, Robert A. Watson, retired Commissioner of the Salvation Army. Invitations will soon be in the mail!

Art and Music Camp Kicks off Summer Sessions

Residents show their bells at the 2007 Art and Music Camp. The fun began the week of June 25, with Art and Music Camp. As our Lamb Getaways program grows, we are developing theme-based camps. All Lamb Getaways participants enjoy daily excursions and activities throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Attendees may choose to extend their vacation with overnight accommodations at Camp Oaks in Bucks County. Camp Oaks is a tranquil community of old English style cottages nestled among the trees along the banks of the Unami stream system. All participants enjoy swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, swinging in a hammock or going off with the binoculars looking for birds and wildlife. Lamb residents may sign up for Getaway vacations as a "Daytripper" or "Overnighter." The week of July 23rd we will offer a Nature and Science Camp followed by a Sport and Spectator Camp the week of August 20th. There are still a few openings left for July and August Getaways. Sign up today!

For a full itinerary of July and August camp session activities, please download our Lamb Getaways Brochure 2007.
Lamb Volunteers Needed

Lamb Foundation needs you! We need volunteers to provide haircuts, manicures, skin care and makeup techniques, and provide rides to doctor's appointments.  Volunteers with organizational skills are also needed at the Sweet Repeats Thrift Shop in North Wales. In addition, we welcome teachers, instructors, tutors and artisans who can teach a craft, trade or skill, computer, reading or budgeting skills. Those who play music, dance, or perform theatre arts might consider performing for a friendly audience like Lamb Foundation. Volunteer activities may be indoors at our recreation center, The Ewes Mews Clubhouse, or held outdoors at a number of shaded spacious properties with plenty of parking. If you would like to volunteer, please email Annette Rolón at or call her at 215-699-5600.

Vietnam Veteran and Sweet Repeats Thrift Shop Manager Jim Smith  was recently moved by a rousing patriotic Fourth of July service at Family Worship Center in Jim SmithTowamencin Township. Jim wished that the Veterans in Lamb Foundation had been there to be thanked for their military service. A staff survey of Lamb Foundation residents found over 15 Veterans of the US Armed Services. They discovered veteran mechanics, medics, communications specialists, and even  WWII Purple Heart recipient, Richard C. All veteran information is now being gathered and verified. A first meeting is being planned in August. All Veterans will be honored and encouraged to share their memories, photos and accomplishments. Activities will include trips to war museums and monuments, starting with a chartered fall trip to Washington, DC. Veteran's stories will be highlighted in future eNews and Ewes News newsletters. Lamb Foundation is proud of all of its Veterans, and we want to say "Thank You."

Please remember to mark your calendar for Lamb's 20th Anniversary dinner event, slated for Saturday, September 29th. Dinner begins at 5 p.m., and the program begins at 7 p.m.

In addition, please view our website calendar to learn more about what is happening at Lamb Foundation. We've created three views on the website calendar:

  1. General Activities/Ewes Mews Clubhouse. This calendar will include all activities, classes, movies, workouts and meals at the clubhouse as well as field trips, picnics, concerts, dances, and camps.
  2. Calendar of Savings. Here you'll find specific days for sales, promotions and celebrations at Sweet Repeats Thrift Shop and our Ebay Store - Sweet E Repeats. In addition, Lamb Foundation yard sales, garage sales and storage sales will be advertised on our Calendar of Savings. Feel free to email this calendar to your family and friends.
  3. Residents Personal/Spiritual Calendar.  Look here for special prayer requests for residents and Foundation needs, a listing of all resident birthdays, area church concerts, dramas, retreats and services, Women's teas, Bible studies, Men's breakfasts, and solemn dates involving funeral arrangements, scheduled surgeries and hospitalizations.

We welcome Lamb residents, family members, and all Lamb supporters and donors to view these calendars as a way to keep in touch with our work, learn how to help, offer a prayer, send a card and discover ways for your organization to support the mission of The Lamb Foundation.
