As we came through Tisha B'Av for the Jewish people we remembered the historical losses, reading the book of Lamentations for this time of mourning.  Let us keep those in the country of Georgia in our thoughts and prayers.

Update on Anusim Center in Be'er Sheva, Israel

The SHI Anusim center condo in Be'eer Sheva is now under contract of sale.  We believe HaShem will provide the wisdom and direction needed for the next steps.  We believe that when one door closes, another greater door will come as HaShem  leads us.  Thank you for your prayers for this necessary change.  

We head for Israel later this month and into September for this business purpose and to connect with contacts in Israel.  We continue to build relationships to help the Anusim return to the Negev.

We had a great time sharing and singing  this past month with  Rosemary Schindler at the Israel group in Oakland, CA.  

We heard from  Mr. Gershon Ferency who is of priestly Cohen linage and father of 11 children.  He lives  on the mountains of Israel where he grows grapes which produce organic wines.

Mr. Ferency  has dedicated a new vineyard in Samaria that will be the first in 2,000 years to produce wine grapes acceptable for use for the Libations to be offered in the future rebuilt Temple in Jerusalem .  He presented the amazing miracles of his experience with "shmita" for the 7th  year of allowing the land to "rest" in Israel, according to Torah.   

Mr. Rueven Prager, also joined us, who is restoring Biblical garments in Israel.  He has also restored the "Holy Half Shekel"  for the Temple use. 
 

More Anusim Awaken
Awakening Anusim in the Diaspora continue to write emails to SHI from all over the world.  Our goal is to encourage and to provide as many connections as possible for our people desiring aliyah information, and connecting them to the appropriate Orthodox Rabbis that may be able to assist them.     
 
Much compassion and patience is needed for these efforts, as Anusim are coming from many different areas and are at different levels of knowledge and understanding of their past Jewish roots.  Because of this, many Sephardic Anusim are not welcomed readily when they try to visit Synagogues or try to reconnect with their lost roots in other venues.  There is still so much misunderstanding in this movement of G-d's  regathering  of his lost sheep of Israel.   
 
Most of these Anusim are very sincere and only desire to find their true identity or to reconnect for possible future return to Israel.  It is a very complicated and expensive process.
 
SHI continues building a data base of Sephardic Anusim names and stories,  supporting by  answering  questions and offering resources needed to many who are emailing in this awakening "army of dry bones".

Anusim Names Project
Sephardim Hope International continues to develop a network of B'nei Anusim (Children of Anusim/Crypto- Jews) for the purpose of education and mutual support. This project is called the Anusim Names Project. We believe it is part of the biblical fulfillment of Obadiah 20.

Isaiah 49:8-9 says Here is what ADONAI says: "At the time when I choose, I will answer you; on the day of salvation, I will help you. I have preserved you, and I have appointed you to be the covenant for a people, to restore the land and distribute again its ruined inheritances to their owners, to say to the prisoners, 'Come out!' to those in darkness, 'Show yourselves!' They will feed along the paths, and all the high hills will be their pastures.

 

May the Psalm 126 also comfort our hearts as scripture says, "Then our mouth was filled with laughter and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them.  The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.  Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as the streams in the Negev (south). They that sow in tears shall reap in joy."
