Shavuot Greetings from Sephardim Hope

Sephardim Hope International prays that you have enjoyed a blessed Shavuot. May we all show our thankfulness for another harvest of blessings in our lives and for Torah.

Because we consider you our family BOTH here and in Israel, we wanted to share something important that has transpired in our family. This update was supposed to have gone out before Shavuot, but our plans were delayed.

My dear Abba, who reached the age of 92, has now left this earthly realm. I was to go see him in Texas (2,000 miles away from CA) but did not get there in time to say my final goodbyes. He was expecting me on Tuesday.

It seems that on E'rev Shavuot his heart gave out from his weakness and illness. He had not been eating well for days. I tell you this, our dear friends, because family is so important in the Hebrew mindset and I had even put aside the vocal recording of the next CD and anything else to go and be with my father. He knew I was coming.

It is because of my fathers courage that I am where I am today. At the age of 87 he finally told me our family secret of our true Jewish heritage and then revealed many family stories of our Crypto Jewish grandparents and the clan of 200 who had come with them to Mexico from Spain. He helped me to have his family history in a notarized affidavit in the event that this could help in our return to Eretz Israel.

It is said by the sages that when a person dies on a feast day, that they surely must have been considered a righteous person. My mother died three years ago on the last day of Hanukkah. It is told and believed that King David was born and died on Shavuot. As David, my father was not always a perfect man, but he was a man who asked for forgiveness for his mistakes and loved Hashem with all his heart. He was always kind and loving to me and took the time to share many family secrets and knowledge about our Sephardic history. In truth, the vision and proposed Anusim Center in Israel would not be a reality if my father had not opened this door of past hiddeness. He was brave enough to tell me the truth.

Sephardim Hope International is thankful during this beautiful time for all that HaShem has done to open the doors of the Negev for the Bnai Anusim. Truly this awakening is becoming greater as He wills. We are thankful for all who partner in this great vision of Return. The Anusim Center is now recorded and taxes are paid.

As some of you may know, buying property in Israel is quite different than it is in the USA! While we enjoy many extras that are included in a purchase here in the US market (what is considered real property and attached to the unit). Israel is quite different! After paying many added fees and commissions to the banks in Israel, we are in great need of the very basics in order to set up the center.

The need for appliances(even the ones that are built in), fixtures, some heaters, wardrobes (no closets in most units or homes in Israel!) and furnishings are all an added expense now.

We know the faithfulness of our mighty G-d and that there are many of you that could be blessed and become a blessing to this dynamic movement in the Negev! This is a prophetic message of hope and part of the story of Biblical Zionism.
