Local Needs Reaching Critical Levels

You Can Help -- Support United Way in 2011

Family in shelter

"In these times of economic hardship, our community needs United Way and the agencies it supports. It's important that all of us invest in our community, and through United Way we can make a lasting difference in people's lives."

~ Julie Yoo, a 17-year Loyal Contributor to United Way

Today is National Philanthropy Day -- a special day set aside to recognize and thank you for all you have done to help people in need in our region. Your support is the key to strengthening our community, and we thank you.

But even with all you have done, there is more to do.

The region's growing needs have been detailed in the media this week, in a Richmond Times-Dispatch story and in a report on CBS 6. To tackle these urgent, critical needs, all of us need to take action and help those who are struggling so fiercely right now.

Consider what you can do right now to change lives. Through United Way, you can unite with others and make a much bigger impact on the community than one person can make alone. Give, advocate and volunteer with United Way today -- our region needs you now more than ever.

Congratulations to Our Community's
Honored Philanthropists and Volunteers
Today, several dedicated philanthropists and volunteers were recognized by the Association of Fundraising Professionals' Central Virginia Chapter for their outstanding contributions to our local community. Some of the recipients are part of the United Way family, and all of them are giving, advocating and volunteering to help people in need and make our region stronger. Congratulations to all!
