New Resource for Caregivers
Now Available on United Way Website
Providing support and resources for family caregivers has long been a part of United Way's work to help older adults remain in their homes and age with dignity.
Now, a new partnership between United Way and Lift Caregiving will boost the support, information, research and tips that are available
on United Way's caregiver website at www.yourunitedway.org/caregivers.
Lift Caregiving offers assistance, advice and answers, as well as organizes and offers connections with proven products and trusted service providers in the Greater Richmond metro area. The website, www.liftcaregiving.com, includes guest authors, insights from subject-matter experts, live chats, invited provider listings and first-hand perspectives from actual caregivers.
United Way's caregiver website also features links to partner agencies that support older adults and other area resources. |

Partner Agencies in the News
Freedom House and the Daily Planet
People dealing with homelessness now have extra help getting to medical appointments. United Way partner agencies Freedom House and the Daily Planet have teamed up to provide transportation from Freedom House's Conrad Center to the Daily Planet -- a 22-block hike that's difficult even if you're healthy. The pilot program is funded by the City of Richmond and donations. Read the Times-Dispatch story here.
Virginia Supportive Housing
An ambitious campaign to find 1,000 homes for 1,000 Virginians will kick off in Richmond next month. Virginia Supportive Housing is now training volunteers to canvass the streets August 1-5 and find those who are sick, vulnerable and homeless. The goal of the 1,000 Homes for 1,000 Virginians campaign is to house those folks and get them medical treatment as soon as possible. Read the Style Weekly story here.
If you're interested in volunteering, visit the campaign website for information, call (804) 836-1061 or
