I would like to share some very personal information with you regarding how I decided to dedicate my practice of medicine to the specialty of Age Management Medicine and how that has truly changed my life and helped me to change the lives of so many of my patients.

Dr. Casas-My Story
Ana Casas M.D.

I received my medical training at Loma Linda University Medical School in Loma Linda, California.

This is perhaps one of the most progressive and forward thinking medical schools in the country (if not in the world) when it comes to teaching medical students about the importance of nutrition and exercise and living a purpose centered life.

Most medical schools only spend one day- yes one day out of four years- teaching nutrition.

At Loma Linda I received a solid foundation in both nutrition and exercise physiology.

I learned something very quickly as I did my residency at Mt. Sinai Medical Hospital in Miami Beach and then practiced in my specialty of Internal Medicine (Adult Medicine) at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and in Miami, Florida.

What I learned was that the majority of patients that I was caring for had chronic lifestyle based diseases that could have been prevented if only they had received the proper information and guidance ten or twenty years before.

I really felt helpless when working with these patients as I saw myself just in the role of sending these patients to specialists who just kept them on chronic medications for their chronic conditions.

These patients were suffering and I knew that they needed an intervention that should have started much earlier.

I knew that the answers did not lie in the disease based approach to medicine that I had been taught.

Prevention could have saved these patients and their families from a lifetime of suffering.

At that time, I had heard alarming statistics that the average life expectancy of a physician in the U.S. was 58 years old.

As I looked around at my medical colleagues, I could see them giving patients advice that they clearly did not follow themselves.

I knew then that focusing on disease based medicine was not the answer for my patients or for myself.

I was not able to apply everything that I had learned early on in my medical training at Loma Linda University Medical School in a 10 minute doctor's visit and this was very frustrating at a professional and personal level.

In the year 2005, I took a leap of faith and obtained formal training in the specialty area of Age Management Medicine -also called Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine or also called Longevity Medicine.

I completed Part 1 and Part 2 of the Level 4 Continuing Medical Education American Medical Association training program in Age Management Medicine at Cenegenics Medical Institute.

I established a private medical practice- Atlanta Age Management Medicine- completely dedicating myself to the practice of Age Management Medicine.

I prepared and took the Oral and Written Board in Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine offered by the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and passed this examination with one of the highest scores on record.

On October 14, 2009 I was chosen by the International Association of Internists as one of the World's Top Doctors and my biography was published in the 2010 edition of The Leading Physicians of the World.

I don't tell you all of this to impress you but to impress upon you how life transforming it has been for me to make the decision to specialize in what I believe to be the future of medicine.

Disease based medicine is not the future of medicine.

Medicine that focuses on prevention and regeneration is the future of medicine.

"The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest her or his patients in the care of the human frame, in a proper diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease." Thomas A. Edison- US inventor (1847 - 1931)

I had always exercised and adhered to a healthy diet but this specialty of medicine opened up a whole new world to me and provided me with new tools and treatment modalities to share with my patients.

I have been following my own Age Management Medicine program for five years.

In that time, I have reduced my biological age ( age you look and feel) by 16 years.

I am 42 years old but my biological age is 26.

This was not just some random number that I came up with to impress you. It is scientifically and objectively the age at which my body functions.

Biomarkers of aging can be measured objectively and a person's biological age can be determined and compared with their chronological age ( number of candles on your birthday cake).

This technology, which I offer to patients in my office in the form of a Body Composition Analysis, really helps me to show a patient where they are and where they can be with a program in Age Management Medicine.

Our body completely repairs and regenerates itself 98% within one year.

Your cells are constantly replacing themselves and therefore you are either rebuilding an older body or rebuilding a younger body depending on whether or not you follow an Age Management Medicine program.

Age Management, or looking at aging as a disease that can be treated, may be the biggest paradigm shift in human history.

Preventive/Regenerative medical interventions, under the supervision of a trained and board certified preventive/regenerative Age Management Medicine physician, can change your life and help you to look and feel 10-20 years younger.

I truly believe that every man or woman over the age of 40 who wants to look and feel 10-20 years younger- while preventing lifestyle related diseases like Heart Disease,Type 2 Diabetes, Metabolic Syndrome,High Cholesterol, High Blood Pressure, Obesity, Situational Depression,Cancer, etc., can benefit from an Age Management Medicine program.

Sharing my knowledge in this exciting specialty of medicine to improve the lives of others is my life purpose and passion.
