In my effort to study and understand the best nutrition and diets available to share with my patients, I have spent substantial time reevaluating the calorie restriction with optimal nutrition (CRON) approach. It is the only medically proven diet to extend the lifespan. The CRON diet is based on many years of animal and human experimentation by Dr. Roy Walford at the UCLA School of Medicine and in other laboratories in other major universities in the United States and Europe. Accoring to Dr. Walford, there is no doubt that all the life span of animals can be extended by up to 50% by dietary means alone. The CRON diet is well founded scientifically.

In my last newsletter, I reviewed the diet of the longest lived population on the planet, the centenarians of Okinawa. This population follows the principles of a diet super high in nutritive quality but low in calories(CRON diet). The Okinawans actually eat more food than the average American, they just make different choices about which foods they eat.

There are many foods that fit very well into the choices of a Calorie Restricted with Optimal Nutrition Diet (CRON diet). In this article, I will review those foods which I have found to have the most nutrition while still being low in calories.

Among the foods that I will review in this article are: blueberries, soy beans, broccoli, sweet potato, pumpkin, yogurt, nuts, tea, tomatoes/tomato paste, spinach, wild salmon, beans, cranberries, asparagus. Do you see the theme here? These foods can all be eaten in abundance while being low in calories and providing us with the essential nutrition that we need to stay healthy.

I am excited to announce a workshop entitled "Younger by the Day" which I will be presenting on Sunday, November 5th from 8 AM to noon at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Buckhead, Atlanta. There will be a very healthy breakfast catered by the Ritz- Carlton from 8-9 AM and the workshop will be held from 9 AM to noon.

The Younger by the Day workshop is for both men and women who wish to rejuvenate their body and revitalize their spirit. This three hour workshop held at the lovely Ritz- Carlton Hotel in Buckhead, Atlanta will provide the participant with practical methods that can be used starting the same day, which if incorporated into their daily life, will promote healthy aging. Participation at the workshop is limited to 25 participants and registration for the workshop is anticipated to fill up quickly. The Registration Deadline is October 1st. You may request more information or a Registration Form to attend.

I close this edition of the newsletter with the hope that this information has been interesting to you and that in some way, you and your loved ones will benefit from it.

Namaste,
