Thanks from our Conference Chair

Thanks to everyone who participated in NESUG 2010!

564 of us gathered at the Renaissance Harborplace Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland for three days to present, discuss, tinker with code, blog and tweet, using both familiar and new ways to share SAS expertise.  There were 172 formal papers, posters and workshops, plus Solutions Theater presentations, Code Clinic and formal and informal collaboration sessions.  Together, those provided many opportunities to listen, lounge, laugh and especially to learn.

NESUG was pleased to welcome Student Scholars, Local Users Group representatives, first-time and returning attendees.  For those who arrived early, we were even treated to some warm and sunny Baltimore weather before the conference began.

Thanks to our authors, presenters, onsite volunteers, members of the conference leadership team, our corporate sponsors and exhibitors and SAS for making this a great SAS learning experience.

Now it's time to look forward to Portland, Maine and NESUG 2011.

NESUG is not just about the papers. It's about the people too! During the conference, with the help of Michael Tomb and his ubiquitous camera and Mike Molter as our guide, we got a chance to talk with many of the participants. All of this is documented in our Video Blog.

Besides all the fascinating things we learned during the day, the camera got a chance to join in the fun we had later when we could unwind from the busy day. Check out "NESUG After Hours".  And against all protests, Michael has included some of the outtakes for you to look at if you are in a really silly mood.  All in all, this is a testament to the great people we meet at NESUG and why we keep coming back year after year.

NESUG Game Show

Monday night we got to show off all that we know and learn some more from others at the NESUG Game Show. We had a large and quite a vocal crowd. Special thanks to the planners and leaders:

ˇ          Developer/Tech Support: Michael Tomb

ˇ          Writer (Trivia Expert): Daphne Ewing

ˇ          Master of Ceremonies: Rick Mitchell

ˇ          Judge: Lisa Eckler

And a big thanks to the stars of the show -- all the contestants who left with newfound knowledge and some fabulous parting gifts.

Solutions Center

This year we replaced the Demo Room with the new Solutions CenterSolutions Center and it was a big hit! We all got to read the Innovation Wall to see how others are using SAS effectively. And we got the opportunity to connect with SAS developers and other SAS users for some in-depth conversation at the Collaboration Café. The center was busy all of the time and there was always an interesting conversation going on. There was a lot to learn and so many interesting people to talk to.
