The Sesquicentennial Gala  | Saturday, November 3
With the spectacular backdrop of the San Francisco skyline, the "Jewel of the Bay" on Treasure Island is Saint Mary's black-tie event of the sesquicentennial year. Tickets are $500 per person, and proceeds will benefit student scholarships.

Bishop Emeritus John S. Cummins presided over this momentous Mass, while Father Xavier Lavagetto of St. Dominic's Catholic Church of San Francisco delivered the homily that evoked the sweeping history of SMC and Brother Ronald spoke of the College's commitment to serving the poor and immigrants.

Virtual Tour Makes Its Debut
In addition to an interactive campus map, the tour features dozens of videos of alumni, students, faculty and staff sharing their experiences of being a Gael. Check it out!
The world of poetry and basketball came together when two renowned alumni -- former Poet Laureate Robert Hass '63 and basketball star-turned-poet Tom Meschery '61 -- joined forces for a special sesquicentennial installment of the popular MFA Creative Writing Reading Series.
Among the new faculty joining SMC this year are a geology professor who has worked on Mars missions, an international management scholar and a professor who studies the development of wisdom across the lifespan. And that's just a few of the new faces.

Saint Mary's international student enrollment has doubled in the past year, with 23 students from 10 countries.

The firm assisting Saint Mary's in the search for Brother Ronald's successor is requesting input from campus officials, faculty, staff, Brothers, students and alumni. Be a part of the process and offer your suggestions on the qualities to look for in the College's next leader at SMCPresident@wittkieffer.com.
