Year of the Gael Saint Mary's College,

the home of the Gael,

is 150 years old!

We think that calls for a celebration. No, a GAELEBRATION! Join us as we commemorate our sesquicentennial with a year full of events -- from the serious to the seriously fun.

Visit for stories, videos and photos of the Brothers, SMC traditions and Gaelblazers and to learn more about sesquicentennial events all year long!

Saturday, September 15, 5-7 p.m.
This is the official kick-off of the year of sesquicentennial celebrations. Bishop Emeritus the Most Rev. John S. Cummins, DD, will preside and the homily will be given by Fr. Xavier Lavagetto, OP '70. Reception to follow on the Chapel Plaza.

Saturday, October 6, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
Join your fellow Gaels on campus for the big sesquicentennial bash -- an unprecedented day of fun for the whole family, featuring interactive programs and attractions, including rides, performances, live bands, athletic demonstrations and giveaways. Gourmet food trucks and carnival fare will provide something tasty for everyone. And it's free!

Saturday, November 3, 6-11 p.m.
With the spectacular backdrop of the San Francisco skyline, the "Jewel of the Bay" on Treasure Island is Saint Mary's black-tie event of the sesquicentennial year. Tickets are $500 per person, and proceeds will benefit student scholarships.

Saint Mary's education is a life-changing experience. We know it, and now the world knows it, too. SMC has been chosen as one of only 40 U.S. institutions in the 2013 edition of Colleges That Change Lives: 40 Schools That Will Change the Way You Think About Colleges.

Catch up with friends at Reunion? Move to a new country? We want to hear what you're up to! Submit a Gael Glimpse by midnight tonight and be entered in a drawing for two men's basketball tickets versus Gonzaga. Don't miss this opportunity!

What do incoming students think about SMC? Read our Q&A with some of our newest Gaels. We also asked our Facebook friends to offer their best advice to this next generation of Gaels. Does it match yours?

SEBA's Graduate Business Program celebrated its 10th Annual Golf and Bocce Tournament for students and alumni, breaking records on all fronts, with more than 200 in attendance and 12 generous sponsors.

OlympicsAussies Shine on the Olympic Court

Matthew Dellavedova '13, SMC alumnus Patty Mills and the rest of the Australian basketball team bravely faced the U.S. team, but came up short 119-86. Mills, however, was the top scorer among all men's basketball players at the Olympics, with a 20.6 average per game.

Newest Class of Student-Athletes

The Gaels welcome 73 freshmen and 11 transfers, including eight international students from Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, New Zealand and Sweden.

WCC Announces 2013 Men's Basketball Schedule
