WCC Champions!Gaels Clinch WCC Conference Title

For the first time since 1989, the men's basketball team won sole possession of the regular-season WCC title following a 67-60 victory over USF.

Brother Ronald Makes Case for Cal Grants

The Oakland Tribune, Contra Costa Times and other local papers published Brother Ronald's appeal to retain full funding for Cal Grants at private, nonprofit colleges, which argued that such aid ultimately saves money for taxpayers and the state. Learn how you can take action.


Tom Meschery '61Commencement Speakers Announced 

Tom Meschery '61 (pictured at right), sports legend-turned-poet and teacher, and Jim Fruchterman, founder of Benetech, which harnesses technology to create social change, have been selected to speak at Saint Mary's commencement ceremonies on May 19 and 20.

Shannon Brownlee, author of "Overtreated" and a U.S. healthcare reform advocate, spent a week at Saint Mary's participating in panel and small-group discussions, visiting classes and speaking to the campus community.


MBA Students Help Nonprofits

Last semester, Executive MBA students provided real-world consulting to local nonprofits, including the Discovery Counseling Center, Berkeley Food and Housing Project, Oakland YMCA, Contra Costa Food Bank, Fountainhead Montessori, ARF, Meals on Wheels and Merritt College.

Major League star and alumnus Tom Candiotti '79 threw out the first pitch as Saint Mary's opened its new baseball field on February 17. More than 30 current and former players were among the hundreds in attendance for this historic occasion. 


Gaels Head to Vegas for WCC Championships 

The No. 1 seed men's basketball team will play in the WCC Championship Tournament in Las Vegas on Saturday, March 3, at 6 p.m. (PST); watch the game on ESPN2. Matthew DellavedovaDellavedova Is on Fire!

Junior guard Matthew Dellavedova has recently earned several accolades, including WCC Player of the Year and Academic All-America Honors. He is also on the 2012 WCC All-Academic Team, one of the finalists for the Bob Cousy Award and is included on the AT&T Midseason 30 Watch List for the Naismith Men's Basketball Player of the Year Award.


Tennis Jumps to No. 19 in ITA Poll

Women's tennis (5-3) jumped to its highest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) ranking in program history this week. They have lost only to No. 1 UCLA, No. 2 USC and No. 11 Stanford.
