Kevin StarrKevin Starr Speaks at Museum Grand Opening

California's State Librarian Emeritus Kevin Starr delivered the keynote address at the unveiling of the new Saint Mary's College Museum of Art and the opening of "The Comprehensive Keith: A Centennial Tribute."

150th Anniversary Cruise

Join President Ronald Gallagher from June 24 to July 5, 2012, on a cruise to Italy and Croatia in honor of the College's upcoming sesquicentennial celebration. Reserve your spot by October 14 for the best stateroom selection. 

 

1863 Society Debuts with a Celebration 

Nearly 150 alumni, parents and friends attended this inaugural event honoring the College's most loyal annual benefactors. The evening program showcased student performances in music, theatre and dance, followed by a reception on the Chapel Plaza.  

 

New Center for Environmental Literacy

The Kalmanovitz School of Education will be the new home of River of Words, an acclaimed K-12 environmental poetry and visual arts program. At the opening reception, Robert Hass '63, former poet-laureate of the United States, described how his poetic journey began at Saint Mary's.

Pat Kreitz, the new dean of library and academic resources, wants to create a 21st-century learning and discovery space at Saint Mary's and is committed to "democratizing access to information worldwide."

90-year old Betty Reed Soskin recently gave students a real-life history lesson on World War II, women and segregation.

 

Campus Unites in Rally Against Sexual Violence

More than 100 members of the SMC community joined together in a rally last week to make it clear that sexual violence will not be tolerated at Saint Mary's.

Blue Mass Honors First Responders 

Hundreds turned out on Friday for a Blue Mass in the Chapel to honor police and fire personnel of Alameda and Contra Costa counties. Read Father Sal's homily and view a video on the event.

India-West covered Saint Mary's T-GEMBA students' recent trip to India and their work to empower nonprofit agencies.

Golf Earns National RankingGolf Earns

National Ranking

Following consecutive top-3 finishes, the Gaels debut at #23 in the season's first Golfstat.com rankings and 29 in the Golfweek/Sagarin national rankings, an all-time high during Scott Hardy's decade as head coach.

 

Two Goals Lift Gaels Over Roadrunners

Women's soccer player Jordan Marada broke through in the 33rd minute of a scoreless game to shut out CSU-Bakersfield. The Gaels will begin West Coast Conference play with an overall 9-2-1 record. 

  

Gaels Make Statement at Stanford Invitational

The men's and women's cross country teams beat two WCC rivals and improved over last year's performance by a margin of 8:05.

 

Strong Finish at the Cal Nike Invitational 

Two Gael doubles pairs captured their respective division finals on Sunday, leading the women's tennis team to a 4-1 record on the final day of the tournament.
