Jyoti Bachani, assistant professor for the Graduate Business program, and her interest in India's practice of "Jugaad" is the foundation for a prestigious Fulbright award from the U.S. State Department.

Vice President for Development Keith Brant reported a record $34 million raised for annual and capital projects.

Grand Opening of the Newly Expanded Art Gallery
Saint Mary's will celebrate the newly expanded Hearst Art Gallery at a grand opening on Sunday, October 2, that will feature a special 100th anniversary exhibition of William Keith paintings and a book signing of the

Contra Costa Times Covers Social Service Immersion in Alaska
Saint Mary's senior and soccer player Justin Grider spent six weeks in Palmer, Alaska, working to provide access to basic needs to homeless and marginally housed individuals. This fellowship was made possible by Alumni Board President David Johnson '84.
Catholic News Interviews Professors on Mary Conference
Theology and religious studies professor Brother Mark McVan and history professor Brother Charles Hilken were interviewed by the Catholic News Service on Saint Mary's "Mary in Our Day" conference held this summer.

Over 500 Attend
7th Summer Wine Festival
Saint Mary's alumni and friends enjoyed tastings from 32 wineries and breweries, helping to raise $17,000 to support the Alumni Legacy Scholarship. Check out the pictures, and plan to join us next August 12.

After leading the Gaels through the
most successful decade in program history, men's basketball coach Randy Bennett has signed on for another 10 years. Bennett has a 208-112 winning record and has led the program to postseason play five times. Follow the Gaels this season as they make several ESPN appearances.

U.S. Amateur Championship
Saint Mary's junior golfer Ben Geyer made a strong run at the U.S. Amateur Championship before falling to reigning U.S. Junior Amateur champion Jordan Spieth in the round of 16.
Gaels Place High in Preseason Poll
The women's volleyball program is favored to finish second this season by West Coast Conference coaches.

More than 150 alumni and their families gathered in Bertain Redwood Grove for the 5th Quarter Family Picnic to honor the long-time coach Jim McDonald.
