Praise for SMC Production of "Angels in America"

Sally Hogart, theatre reviewer for the Contra Costa Times and other Bay Area News Group newspapers, offered high praise for the recent student production of "Angels in America," noting the high production values, excellent acting and the direction by professor Reid Davis.


Jan Term Speakers on Rethinking, Remaking History

This year's theme, "New Histories: Reliving, Rethinking, Remaking," invites reflection, critical analysis and action from important cultural and intellectual leaders including Damali Ayo, The Kitchen Sisters, Shane Claiborne and Robert B. Reich.


Liturgy of Lights

On Sunday, Dec. 5, at 8 p.m., this special Mass will bring together alumni, students, faculty, staff and Christian Brothers. A holiday dessert reception will follow.

On Saturday, Dec. 18, come cheer on the Gaels at the Wooden Classic as Saint Mary's men's basketball takes on Long Beach State. Mark Your Calendar for the 34th Annual Car Drawing presents the 34th Annual Car Drawing on Saturday, Feb. 26, prior to the men's basketball game against Portland. The grand prize is a choice of a 2011 Jeep Liberty or $20,000. More details to come soon.


40 Years 1 Night Gaela a Success

In honor of the 40th anniversary of women at Saint Mary's, a Gaela celebration was held on Nov. 6. Thirty of our 40 influential alumnae attended and were honored, and more than $30,000 was raised for the Sister Clare Wagstaffe Endowed Scholarship. View slideshow from the evening.

1st Annual Global Economic Forum...A Spectacular Evening

The Alumni Council for the School of Economics and Business Administration hosted this inaugural event on Nov. 13 at the World Affairs Council in San Francisco.  Read about the discussion, panelists and view photos from the evening.


Athletic News

The SMC women's volleyball team had seven players garner All-WCC post-season honors. Seniors Shannon Lowell and Kapua Kamana'o, and sophomores Gabby Jolly and Lauren Corp were named All-WCC First Team. Honorable Mention honors were given to senior Megan York and sophomore Missy White, while Natalie Loos was named to the WCC All-Freshman Team.

Women's Basketball Defeats Wisconsin As Tomlinson Sets NCAA Career Record

The Gaels defeated Wisconsin, 56-50, in the final game of the Hilton-Concord Thanksgiving Classic. Senior Louella Tomlinson's block late in the game set the NCAA career record for blocked shots, her 536th rejection.


Men's Basketball Sets Single Game Record for PointsMen's Basketball Sets Single Game Record for Points

Saint Mary's set a school record with 121 points in a 69-point win over Chicago State, as the Gaels posted a 121-59 victory in the second game of the South Padre Island Classic from McKeon Pavilion.


Baseball Meet the Players NightBaseball Meet the Players Night

Get ready for another season of Gaels baseball and meet the 2011 team on Saturday, Jan. 22. Keynote speaker is Gregg Jefferies, a 14-year major league veteran, two-time National League All-Star and Bay Area native.
