David JohnsonNew Members of the Alumni Board of Directors Appointed
Alumni Board President David Johnson '84 welcomes seven new directors for 2010-2011. They are Ginny Hair '84, Frank Howard '79, JP McDermott MBA '90, Hayden McKee-Perry '96, Martha Niland '79, William Orr MBA '04 and Warren Parker '87. The Alumni Board of Directors helps the alumni association and the College by exploring and supporting avenues of mutual engagement and service.

Br. Martin FallinBrother Martin Fallin Passes Away
Brother Martin died on July 8. He had been a resident of Holy Family Community in Napa for a little over a year, was a Saint Mary's alumnus from the class of 1954 and worked in a number of positions at Saint Mary's over the years. He was cherished by many and will be missed by all who knew him.

Reunion Weekend 2010Reunion Weekend 2010 a Success
Hundreds of alumni, family and friends returned to campus in July to celebrate their Reunion Weekend. Festivities began in Walnut Creek with a warm-up party at Pyramid Alehouse and continued through the weekend with events like a historical campus tour, family BBQ, classes without quizzes, live music in the Redwood Grove, a dinner dance and, of course, after-parties in the townhouses.
Save the date for our next Reunion Weekend: July 15-17, 2011, for the classes of 1961, 1966, 1971, 1976, 1981, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2001, and 2006.

Television Coverage of Record Enrollment Figures
ABC-7/KGO-TV reports on the record enrollment numbers for entering freshmen at Saint Mary's. An East Bay reporter spoke with Vice Provost of Enrollment Michael Beseda and School of Liberal Arts Dean Steve Woolpert about preparations made by the College to accommodate 680 new freshman students.

Students Leave for Haiti Relief
Eleven students and professors Shawny Anderson and Claude Malary left for Haiti last week for a summer travel class to help with earthquake-relief efforts. They will be working in Les Cayes and Port-au-Prince until August 5.

From July 25-September 19, nearly 100 plein air paintings by three pioneer women artists represent the breadth of early California landscape. SMC Garners 18 Academic All-WCC Selections
After the conclusion of the 2010 spring season, 18 Saint Mary's student-athletes won West Coast Conference All-Academic recognition. Selections include four baseball players, three golfers, one rower, four men's tennis players and one women's tennis player.

Saint Mary's had three golfers selected to the 2010 Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars. Senior Robert McRae garnered national scholar honors for the third time in his career, while juniors Henrik Holm and Eric Grimberg were named for the first time in their careers.

SMC Finishes Learfield Sports Director's Cup in Top 100
For the first time in school history, the Saint Mary's Athletic Department finished in the Top 100 of the Learfield Sports Director's Cup. With a school record of five teams advancing to the NCAA Tournament, the College earned 189 points to finish 93rd in the country for Division 1 standings.

The 17th Annual John R. Wooden Classic will proceed as scheduled this year despite the passing of legendary coach John Wooden. The Gaels will battle Long Beach State on Saturday, December 18, at the Honda Center in Anaheim.
