Celebrating 40th Anniversary of Women
Next fall marks the 40th anniversary of women being admitted to Saint
Mary's. The SMC Women in Philanthropy Committee will recognize 40
influential female graduates at a special event in November. Nominate women you know who serve as role models through their
leadership, achievement, and service.

Bishop Salvatore Cordileone Speaks at Saint Mary's
Bishop Salvatore Cordileone of the Diocese of Oakland gave a talk to
about 200 faculty, students, staff and visitors in the Saint Mary's
College Chapel on Pope Benedict XVI's encyclical, "Caritas in
Veritate," in the Saint Mary's College Chapel on April 14.

New Dean for School of Economics and Business Administration
Zhan Li has been appointed Dean of the School of Economics and Business Administration at Saint Mary's College. His appointment will begin on July 1, 2010.

Professor of the Year Recognized

Sandra Grayson, who was earlier named the 2009-2010 Professor of the Year after being nominated by every member of the English department, was recognized in a ceremony on April 21. Grayson has compiled a notable list of achievements during her 25-year tenure at the College.

New Assistant Director of Alumni and Volunteer Engagement
The
Saint Mary's College Office of Alumni and Volunteer Engagement welcomes
Laurel DeMaria as the new assistant director. DeMaria, who most
recently was an event manager at San Jose State University, has also
worked in the alumni office at De La Salle High School.
SMC on Princeton Review's Greenest Colleges ListSaint Mary's College is among 26 colleges and universities in
California listed in the "The Princeton Review's Guide to 286 Green
Colleges." The guide, the first of its kind by the Review, is published
in partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and

Andy Warhol Exhibit Makes an ImpressionThe
Contra Costa Times profiles "Andy Warhol's Quick Pix and Pop
Icons," the latest exhibition at Saint Mary's Hearst Art Gallery. The
exhibition features curated pieces from the College's Warhol collection
of 152 Polaroid photographs and 8x10 black and white gelatin silver
prints and some of the artist's well-known paintings. Exhibit runs through June 20.
