Alumni are invited home to Saint Mary's for this year's De La Salle Week from Sunday, April 25 through Sunday, May 2. A variety of activities have been planned for alumni and students to come together to celebrate our Lasallian heritage. As part of the festivities, the 2010 Alumni Award recipients will be recognized at the annual Alumni Awards Dinner on Thursday, April 29.

Basketball Team to Throw Out First Pitch for Oakland A'sThe men's basketball team will have the honor of throwing out the first pitch on Opening Night for the Oakland A's on Monday, April 5, at 7:05 p.m. Discounted tickets are available to Gael fans. All are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance, as the event is expected to sell out.

Gaels Make History in NCAA Tournament
The
men's basketball team made history by playing their way into the Sweet
Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament. Alumni, family and fans came together
to cheer on the Gaels at numerous locations across the country,
including 2,166 enthusiastic fans at the official Bay Area viewing
party at AT&T Park last Friday. Although the Gaels fell to Baylor
in our last tournament game, the Gaels finished the season as WCC
Champions and with a 28-6 record.

Women's Team in WNITAfter finishing the season 21-9 and second in WCC Championship, women conclude with WNIT loss to Utah. Louella Tomlinson posted her 21st double-double of the season, finishing with 13 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks.

Saint Mary's Recognized on Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll
Saint Mary's College has received a prestigious national honor with a place on the 2009 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll with Distinction. This is the highest federal recognition a school can achieve for its commitment to service-learning and civic engagement.

Andy Warhol Exhibit on Campus
From April 11 through June 20, the College's collection of 152 Polaroid photographs and black-and-white gelatin silver prints awarded through the Warhol Foundation Photography Legacy Project will be on display at the Hearst Art Gallery. Events surrounding the exhibition include a panel discussion on April 11 and a lecture on "Warhol the Filmmaker" on April 14.

Dance Company Wins Top Honors
The Saint Mary's College Dance Company was recently awarded top honors at the Southwest Region conference of the American College Dance Festival. The ensemble was also nominated for "Best Performer of the Year;" the winner will be announced in late May.

150 students, faculty, staff and members of the Bay Area's Catholic community in
a lecture titled "The Feminist Case Against Abortion."

Senior Wins Debate Association Honor
At
the National Parliamentary Debate Association championship tournament
last month, SMC senior Elizabeth Patterson was honored with an
All-American Award. She was one of seven seniors recognized out of
nearly 400 competitors for the tournament.
