10 Years of Service
 2009-10 Marks the 10th Anniversary of the Award-Winning CILSA Program Celebrate CILSA's (Catholic Institute for Lasallian Social Action) decade of impact by participating in an
Inter-generational Saturday of Service for students, staff, faculty and alumni Nov. 21 from 10 a.m - 2 p.m. School-age children are welcome, and lunch will be provided. Various volunteer locations include Alameda, Oakland and Walnut Creek. Read more. Sign up for the day of service.
Saint Mary's Magazine is Online The fall 2009 issue of the College magazine themed "Beyond the Classroom" is now online. Highlights include articles about the study abroad program, CILSA, an urban environmental issues class and the latest Gael Glimpses. Go the magazine.
Alumnus Named President of Thomas Aquinas College Michael F. McLean '68 became the fourth president of Thomas Aquinas College on
Oct. 24, 2009. Members of the Board of Governors of Thomas Aquinas College
appointed McLean president of the 38-year-old institution at their fall meeting. Read more.

Out of This World Exhibit and Event Come listen to astronomer, artist and author William K. Hartmann,
Ph.D., from 7 to 8 p.m. on campus free of
charge. The Hearst Art Gallery and the School of Science, in conjunction with the
current exhibit, "Out of This World: The Landscapes of Our Solar System,"
present this event with stargazing and Leonid meteor shower watch following the presentation. Read more.
Three Students Win Awards for Summer Science Research Projects Three students garnered special recognition in October from School of Science Dean
Brian Jersky for their outstanding work during the school's summer research
program, while eight other students also presented their work in 2009 Sigma Xi

Graduate Business Programs Celebrate Commencement The School of Economics and Business Administration's graduate programs
celebrated commencement on Oct. 11 in the Saint Mary's Chapel, with the
Master of Business Administration program graduating 85 students and the Master
of Science in Financial Analysis and Investment Management graduating 14

Fall Theater Production The magic of Word for Word comes to Saint Mary's this month in a production of "At Mrs. Dalloway's Party," an evening of short
stories written by Virgina Woolf and created and performed by an ensemble of

Annual Dine with Alums Event Draws a Crowd Nearly 70 alumni met with 140 students Oct. 21 for dinner to discuss their careers and give advice. Second Annual Pat Vincent Dinner Dance As another season of Gael rugby is set to begin, come celebrate and support the
Saint Mary's College rugby program on Saturday, Nov. 21. This event is the largest fundraiser for
Gael rugby and is a great opportunity to connect with current and former
ruggers. Southern California alumni are invited to attend the season opening matches in Los Angeles and Orange Counties Nov. 14 and 15. Learn more about the Dinner Dance. Learn more about the southern California matches.
Men's and Women's Basketball Seasons Open The men's and women's basketball season begins at home this year with a double-header on Nov. 13. The women will take on Idaho and the men will face New Mexico State. Read more about the women. Read more about the men.
Women's Volleyball Leads the Conference After defeating Loyola Marymount on Oct. 28 the team secured sole possession of first place in the WCC. The team followed up that victory with another win over Pepperdine on Oct. 31. Read more.
Patty Mills Makes NBA Roster Former Saint Mary's point guard Patrick Mills has signed a contract with the
Portland Trail Blazers, and has made the team's 15-man roster for the 2009-10 NBA
season. Mills was drafted by the Blazers with the 55th overall pick in the 2009
NBA Draft. Read more.
