50 Years
Students to Recreate Iconic Image on its Golden Anniversary Fifty years ago, a group of students crammed a phone booth inside a residence hall, and then in March recreated the stunt for Life magazine. The photo was on the cover of Life, and was named in the top 100 American photos of the century. Come out to campus on Wednesday, March 25, at 1 p.m. to watch as current students attempt to recreate the feat. Read more.

Moraga Celebrates 80 Years of Saint Mary's On Feb. 12 Mayor Dave Trotter presented Brother President Ronald Gallagher with a proclamation recognizing Saint Mary's, its students, faculty and staff for the contributions they have have made during the 80 years that the College has been located in Moraga. School of Business Professors Speak Out on Economy Faculty from the School of Economics and Business Administration covered various aspects of the global financial crisis in a debate sponsored by SMC's Center for the Regional Economy. Learn Survival Skills in this Economy The East Bay Graduate Business Alumni Council is hosting the first in a series of workshops with the theme "Survival Skills in this Economy." Professor Receives Kennedy Center Grant Saint Mary's College professor Rebecca Engle has been awarded a Kennedy Center National Teaching Artist Grant for 2009. Professor Engle is one of seven recipients nationwide to receive the grant from the Kennedy Center for this year. Read more.

Summer Writing Course Open to Alumni Join other members of the community and begin the process of writing your own life story. Working with an alum of the Saint Mary's College MFA Program, Erich Miller, you will have the opportunity to get your writing muscles in shape. WCC Tournament News At the end of regular season play the men are named as the No. 2 seed and the women are No. 5 for the West Coast Conference tournament, March 6-9, in Las Vegas. There are still special rates available at the Venetian for SMC fans. The men's first game will be Sunday, March 8, and the women will begin play on Friday, March 6. All Alumni are invited to a Gaels Tournament Kick-Off Tailgate Party in the parking lot of the Orleans Arena on Sunday, March 8th from 3-6 p.m.

Baseball Starts Out Strong at Home Jedd Soto's club started the season on a high note in taking two out of three games against Oregon in the Ducks first Division 1 series since 1982. A large crowd was on hand to witness the rebirth of Oregon baseball. Read more.
