Move-in Day
The College welcomed its largest freshman class ever during the Weekend of Welcome with more than 670 students moving into the residence halls on Aug. 28 and starting classes on Sept. 2.
Alumna Killed in Martinez Shooting
Catalina Torres '03, known for her work on domestic violence issues, was shot by her cousin's estranged husband who later shot and killed Martinez police officer, Sgt. Paul Starzyk. She was 44.
Alumni Endorsement
The search is underway for great applicants to enroll as freshman at Saint Mary's next fall. Alumni have the ability to aid in this effort by endorsing a student who applies to the College. Your endorsement will waive their $55 application fee.

The College's newest bachelor's degree program designed for working professionals draws heavily from the social sciences and has a wide application in workplace, community and global contexts.

Esteemed Author Visits Campus
Come to campus on Oct. 8 for an evening of lively commentary on politics and the historic 2008 presidential election as CLAM and the Disney Forum welcome celebrated author, longtime political correspondent and syndicated columnist Richard Reeves. Best known for his acclaimed trilogy on the presidencies of John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan, this prolific writer is currently a senior lecturer at USC. In addition to print journalism, Reeves has received every major television award for his documentaries for ABC and the Public Broadcasting Service.
19th-Century Dutch Art Featured in Newest Exhibit
The Hearst Art Gallery is pleased to debut on Oct.12 an exhibition of more than 60 19th-century Dutch masterpieces from the collection of Dr. Jan and Mrs. Mary Ann Beekhuis. The works selected for the exhibition have rarely been displayed, and have never been shown before on the West Coast.
