"Dr. D" Remembered

Hundreds Gather on Campus for Memorial
Alumni, students, faculty, staff, family and friends were present for the memorial Mass celebrating the life and work of John Dennis, affectionately known as "Dr. D" to many. The popular professor served SMC since 1979 and directed the High Potential program for 12 years. The High Potential Annual Scholarship Fund has been renamed in his honor.
Alumnus Killed in Iraq
 Sgt. Timothy Martin '04 was killed along with three others in Iraq when their vehicle hit an improvised explosive device. The 27-year-old was a biology major and is the first SMC alumnus to die in the Iraq war.
Black Alumni Celebration
Dorothy (Benjamin) Jones '89 and Sylvia (Marquis) Harper '75 were honored Saturday night before a large crowd at the Black Alumni Celebration and Awards. Both women were recognized for significant achievements in their respective fields.
Calling all Golden Gaels
 All alumni who graduated in 1957 and earlier are invited to this year's Golden Reunion on April 13. The reunion will feature a showing of "Brickpile to Broadway," a documentary produced by George Clark '66 about the early years of Gael football. All attendees will also receive a copy of the book, They Did it Every Time, by Randy Andrada '73, which chronicles the history of football at SMC.
So You Think You Can Dance?
The ball boys at the home basketball games do more than wipe the floor during timeouts. All year they have been gaining popularity by dropping their mops and strutting their stuff during each men's basketball home game this year.

Former Massachusetts governor and presidential candidate, Michael Dukakis, along with his wife Kitty spoke to the SMC community about the state of the Democratic and Republican parties, the war in Iraq and the current presidential race.

Young alumni are invited to come out to San Francisco and learn the secrets about life after college in this highly anticipated event sponsored by the Saint Mary's, USF, UOP and Notre Dame de Namur alumni associations.
