Celebrating 100 Years of Basketball at SMC
The Top 25 Players of All Time to be Recognized The Athletics Department will announce numbers 25 to 17 leading up to the season opener on Friday, Nov. 9 when the Gaels take on Sonoma State. At halftime the department will recognize the #16 player of all time and will continue the countdown during the season, culminating with the #1 player of all time at the final home game of the season on Feb. 25. 37th Annual President's Club Dinner a Success
This year's dinner dance at the Blackhawk Auto Museum offered Brother President Ronald Gallagher, FSC an opportunity to express his deep appreciation for the ongoing generosity of our President's Club members. It also gave the crowd of almost 300 a chance to celebrate the successes of the past year at Saint Mary's, while raising close to $400,000 through the President's Live Auction.
Poet Robert Hass '63 Nominated for National Book AwardA new poetry collection by Robert Hass '63, "Time and Materials," was nominated for the National Book Award on Oct. 10, according to the New York Times and other publications. Hass, a former U.S. poet laureate, also received high praise for the new collection in the New York Times Book Review on Oct. 7 and by the Associated Press on Oct. 9 in an article printed in the International Herald Tribune and other publications.
Former Washington Post Baghdad Bureau Chief Visits SMC
Rajiv Chandrasekaran, author of Imperial Life in the Emerald City, talked about his experience as Baghdad bureau chief with an Oct. 22 Soda Center audience including the weeks after the 2003 invasion of Iraq when he started. Learn what he said.

Randy Bennett Signs Contract Extension
Men's basketball head coach Randy Bennett signed a multi-year deal with SMC last month extending his contract to 2013.
Gael Hall of Fame Nominees The deadline to nominate individuals for the Saint Mary's College Athletics Hall of Fame is Nov. 7. Anyone connected with the College has the ability to nominate an individual for consideration. Please contact Tom Carroll at (925) 631-4394 for more information.
Basketball Preview Saint Mary's Athletics and Stone and Youngberg will host the 2nd Annual Men's and Women's Basketball Preview Luncheon at the Ferry Building in San Francisco on Wednesday, Nov. 7 from 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Men's and women's basketball coaches Randy Bennett and Paul Thomas will each talk about the upcoming season, as well as answering a few questions from the audience. There are only a few seats remaining for the event and RSVPs are required to attend.
Gael Force AlumniSMC Graduates from 2006 and 2007 are able to purchase men's basketball season tickets at a 50 percent discount ($60 for 2007-08 season). Seats will be located in the lower bowl. Only 25 of these seats remain, and will be provided on a first come, first served basis. A maximum of two seats will be allowed per graduate. All members will also receive a free "Gael Force" t-shirt.
