Jim GuyetteAlumni Award Winners Announced
The Alumnus of the Year is Jim Guyette '67 (pictured). Other winners are Rick Reviglio '88, Brother Dominic Berardelli, Professor Shawny Anderson, Jim Wood '70 and Jim Sciuto '00. Come support them at the annual Alumni Awards Dinner on Nov. 3.
 
Gael Glimpses Needed
Gael Glimpses for the Winter issue of Saint Mary's magazine are due by Sept. 15. Those who submit a Glimpse prior to the deadline will be entered in a drawing for a gift basket of alumni merchandise. If you submitted a Glimpse between July 6 and Aug. 16, there is a chance we did not receive it due to technical issues with the new website. Please re-submit your Glimpse to be sure it gets published.

Wine Tasting Recap
The Grand Wine Tasting hosted by the Alumni Association Board of Directors on Aug. 5 raised several thousand dollars for student scholarships. Next year the event will be Aug. 10.

The Saint Mary's magazine fall issue -- featuring articles on commencement ceremonies, alumni teachers and summer science programs -- is now online.

Great Books Founders Day
Join SMC faculty, students and alumni as they celebrate the great books tradition started by Prof. James Hagerty, who died 50 years ago. The day will feature a lecture by Prof. Steven Cortright, lunch and a seminar session (readings available online).

Women's Volleyball Bests Arizona
 
Women's volleyball defeated host Arizona in the final match of the Sheraton University Plaza Wildcat Classic in front of a crowd of 1,128. Freshman Megan York was named MVP for the tournament. The team remains undefeated after facing its first 5 opponents this year. Come out to the first home game on Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. to see them in action.
 
Men's and Women's Soccer Compete in First Tournaments
Three players on the men's team were named to the all-tournament team at the Davidson adidas Classic. The women's team defeated Columbia at the California tournament. Both teams are 1-0-1.
