Congratulations to our horses and riders at the 2009 Pony Finals and Junior Hunter Finals!
Shiloh's Way Too Pretty - 8th Overall Lg. Greens
This gorgeous Large Green Pony nonchalantly excelled in the toughest company she's ever faced. Pretty's consistent style in all 3 phases netted her a 8th Overall finish in a very impressive field of 74 ponies. She modeled beautifully and was fearless over fences while many of her competitors spooked and stopped. Back at the barn the look on her face said nothing but, "I'm not sure why you all look so stunned, what did you think we came here to do?" She then set off to give a pony ride to a very young and completely non-horsey nephew who happened to be in attendance. Visit her page for the beautiful pictures I took (she gets all the credit on that one) and NEW video from Blowing Rock in the 3' divisions. Click here: Shilohs Way Too Pretty.
Believe in Blue - 9th Overall Sm. Greens
This very fancy Small Green did not disappoint at Finals! Proving he had everything it takes, style AND manners, he swept in, did his thing, and returned to the east coast shortly after taking 9th Overall in a field of 48 up-and-coming stars. A lot is asked of Small ponies; their charges inevitably smaller and less experienced than their bigger counterparts, and their inherent cuteness brings equine style to a whole 'nother level. The competition is surprisingly fierce yet none of it fazed this stoic Small. Finishing 6th in the Model, 12th Under Saddle and 13th Over Fences with one small piloting error I have no doubt this pony will be a top contender next year in the division Smalls. I have new pictures of him also, click here: Believe in Blue
Practical Magic - Res. Champion at Junior Hunter Finals
A very special and heartfelt congratulations to the team of Leylan Gleeson and Practical Magic of Stepping Stone Farm in Ohio. Leylan and trainer/mom Cari Gleeson found and purchased "Hope" two years ago through The Exchange from our clients in Southern California. At the time Hope was a fairly green bean with a lot of talent and potential, which this dedicated team instantly recognized. I have kept up with their progression over the years, checking in whenever I see them at shows, at watched as Leylan and Hope began to net Tricolors consistently at 3'6" in impressive company. Just last month I watched them tackle the very difficult USHJA International Derby course at the Chagrin Valley Hunter Jumper Classic and knew they were prepared for the upcoming Junior Hunter Finals at HITS Saugerties. Now, I'm not sure what inspires me more: That Hope and Leylan were Reserve Champion of the Small Junior Hunter, 15 & Under division against some of the nicest 3'6" horses on the East Coast . . . or the fact that within a few hours of picking up her ribbon Leylan had plastered my Facebook page with their success!!!! I'm so incredibly proud of this team and honored we could play a part in bringing them together. |

Congratulations to Lisa Cahn of Epic Stables on the sale of "Artlandis" to Samantha Davis of Heidi Misrahy Stables at Flintridge Riding Club in Southern California. |

2009 Hampton Classic: Time to get the hats out |
|
We're excited to announce several very nice sale horses competing in the prestige of the 2009 Hampton Classic. All horses are priced in the six figures. We welcome serious buyers to contact our Sellers to arrange viewings and trials.
Varsity - Adult Hunters
You can try to tell "Viper" what a big deal this show is but I doubt he'll care. This very easy going youngster was a multiple Tricolor winner this year at WEF and just came off a successful summer series in Vermont. He also competes in the Pregreens and Low AOs and will be ready to dominate the First Years in 2010. Puppy dog personality, easy to train, great for jr/am finish. Extremely cute and handsomely chromed, will be a top Small Junior anywhere. Contact Jennifer Bliss to arrange trial, click here: Varsity
Don't Think Twice - Adult Hunters
Joining stablemate Varsity in the Hamptons (these horses live better than I do) is striking hunter "Don't Think Twice", who we call "Dylan". Production Assistant Ellie tells me this is a Bob Dylan reference. That's twice Production Assistant Ellie has had to clue me in on the innuendos of our horse's names. But I digress . . . Dylan has a fantastic canter and won the hack out of 26 in Vermont. His step is big and smooth and his jump is easy to stay with, very ideal for the amateur rider. He has Pregreen Tricolors out of 30 and will be ready for First Years in 2010. He will compete in the Older Adult divisions at the Hampton Classic, also contact Jennifer Bliss to arrange a trial. Click here: Don't Think Twice
Wellington - Adult Hunters
Consummate gentleman that he is "Wellington" aka "Duke" (I got that one all by myself!) will of course be in attendance for a weekend in the Hamptons. Continuing our trend of Adult Hunter competitors Duke will also compete in the Older Adult divisions. Duke and owner/seller Louise Petz had a great run in the Adult Equitation classes on the recent HITS Saugerties circuit, winning the Marshall & Sterling Medal and placing in the top 3 multiple times during their attendance. This big, impressive gelding is a lovely 3' type for both the hunter and equitation rings. Contact Jonathan Soresi or owner Louise Petz to arrange trial, details here: Wellington
Rocketman - ???
You can find "Brownie" (this one's barn name should have been "Elton") in just about any arena at any given show. If I had to guess I'd steer you towards the 3'6" Medals and Equitation, and then over to the Low Junior Jumpers, and if you still hadn't found him I'd hop a cart down to the Small Junior ring. This horse is extremely versatile and very unintimidating for small adults or juniors coming off ponies. Don't let his height fool you, he has a ton of scope and a great, bounding canter with more than enough step. He is an excellent horse to mover up to 3'6" with and provides a lot of opportunity to dabble in a variety of rings. I'll try to get more detail on exactly what he will be showing in at the Hampton Classic, or contact seller Connie Stevens to arrange a time to see him. Videos and info here: Rocketman |
