As of Friday, May 13th, 2011, Ste. Anne's Spa has taken over operation of what was formerly known as The Hillcrest Valenova Spa in Port Hope, Ontario. The property will be rebranded as The Dorset Manor Spa and will offer all-inclusive overnight packages similar to Ste. Anne's Spa.
The property is not unfamiliar territory for Ste. Anne's Spa Owner, Jim Corcoran. After purchasing the Hillcrest Bed & Breakfast in 2000, he converted it to a boutique destination spa and operated it for 4 years. In 2004, he sold the Victorian manor to the current owner, Valenova Holdings Inc.. The Hillcrest Valenova was operated as an independent inn & spa until 2010, when it was sold to a third party. When the deal to sell the property collapsed in April of 2011, Valenova approached Corcoran to see if he had any interest in taking back and operating the property. It didn't take Corcoran long to agree to take on this challenge as growing demand for a destination spa experience close to the G.T.A. had resulted in high occupancy levels at Ste. Anne's Spa. Corcoran believes that higher than usual, post recessionary stress levels were predominantly responsible for driving demand for his product to record levels in 2010. The opportunity to add a 9 room turn-key operation to the existing business made sense for both parties.
Situated in the historic town of Port Hope and located on 4 wooded acres with a beautiful view of Lake Ontario, The Dorset Manor Spa is a truly unique refuge from the hustle and bustle of the city. The grounds are beautifully kept with large gardens and water features. With only 9 rooms in this large Victorian Manor, guests feel as if they have the whole place to themselves - a tranquil oasis from the demands of everyday life. The Dorset Manor Spa features the same wide array of spa services that are offered at Ste. Anne's Spa and the culinary team will cook up the same, delectable country fare offered at the flagship property in Grafton.
