Needle Art Framing Tips
Protect From Light Damage
Needle arts are having a revival in our area and we often have the pleasure of seeing the fruits of your carefully stitched work. When a piece of art represents such a time investment and may become a family heirloom, it is important to frame it properly. First, make sure that your work is clean and blocked to be ready for framing. When you bring it to us we will help you decide on the best framing methods and designs to preserve and display your work.
One of the most important choices you will make is whether or not to use glass in your framing project. Having seen the results of unprotected needlepoint first hand, we recommend the use of UV filtering glass on most needle art framing. This Unicorn Tapestry needlepoint was originally framed in 1980 with no ultraviolet protection. Over the course of three decades it suffered substantial fading.
