Friday Report

Greetings!

This Sunday, Jul. 22, parishes in the Archdiocese will hold a second collection for the starving populations of West Africa's Sahel region.

The international Caritas network will benefit from the collection through  CCODP, which is extending its response with aid in Mauritania, Chad and Senegal. CCODP has produced the video below showing the urgency of the situation. Please share it and give generously.

Missionaries visiting the Archdiocese

Some fascinating foreign missionaries are in the Archdiocese, speaking about their international work and seeking your prayerful and financial support.

Father Martin Ochayo Lino from Juba, Sudan, is working with displaced persons who return home to find nothing there. He trains facilitators to help them with their emotional and physical needs. He is at Immaculate Conception Parish, Vancouver, until Jul. 3 and is preaching at Precious Blood Parish, Surrey from Aug. 25-26.

Bishop Lawrence Subrato has two orphanages in Bangladesh and will be at Holy Rosary Cathedral, Vancouver from Aug. 25-26 and All Saints Parish, Coquitlam from Sept. 8-9.

Stop the hunger crisis in West Africa

The Archdiocese will have a special collection for the crisis in West Africa on Sunday, Jul. 22. To learn more about the emergency appeal in the Sahel region, visit the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) website and the Development and Peace website.
