Friday Report

Greetings!

Some great acting, some beautiful music, a retreat, and a film with panel discussion. Yes, it's just a typical weekend in the Archdiocese of Vancouver.

It starts tonight (Friday) with St. Damien of Molokai, Martyr of Love, at 7 p.m. at Holy Rosary Cathedral. Father Edward Danylo Evanko becomes DAMIEN, Marc D'Anjou performs Widor's Toccata, and the Redeemer Pacific Chamber Choir sings the Dies Irae. TICKETS AT THE DOOR. Presented by Redeemer Pacific College.

Tomorrow (Saturday) is a retreat for those who support migrants and refugees. Sponsored by the Office of Service and Justice, it starts with 9 a.m. Mass at St. Helen's in Burnaby, 3860 Triumph St. Email egarrucho@rcav.org if you are planning to attend. Please bring a dish to share in a potluck lunch. For more information contact Evelyn Vollet by email or phone 604-683-0281.

Finally, Sunday night is the world premiere of Across the Divide, the new HD Salt and Light documentary. A panel discussion follows, and for $10 more, attend the pre-film cocktail reception. To order, visit the Salt+Light website or the event Facebook page.

Sincerely,

Most Holy Trinity
Solemnity
Sunday, Jun. 3

Perhaps the deepest, the most profound of all mysteries is the mystery of the Trinity. The Church teaches us that although there is only one God, yet, somehow, there are three Persons in God. The Father is God, the Son is God, the Holy Spirit is God, yet we do not speak of three Gods, but only one God. They have the same nature, substance, and being. More

Premiere of new Salt+Light Documentary

University students in B.C. don't have to wait hours to pass through checkpoints manned by armed soldiers. Thankfully, they don't have to put their studies on hold when a war breaks out.

By contrast, in the village where Christ was born, 3,000 students at Bethlehem University are confronted with such difficulties every day they try to get to class.

On Sunday, Jun. 3, the Archdiocese of Vancouver will host the premiere of a Salt+Light HD documentary on Bethlehem University as it tries to contribute to a better future in the Holy Land. Click here for info and tickets.
