REMINDER ON GOING PAPERLESS, PARTIAL PAYMENTS AND CANCELING COVERAGE

eBN Agencies

  • State Health Plan Goes Paperless
Over the past several months, the State Health Plan has fully transitioned all groups from processing paper applications to electronic enrollment via eBenefitsNow. Electronic benefits administration and enrollment allow the Plan and organizations to move to a paperless environment, saving costs and reducing duplication of work.

The Plan will no longer accept paper enrollments as all groups are now on electronic enrollment. Paper applications received by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina will be mailed back to the HBR to enter into eBN.

The paper application has been removed from the Plan's website and is no longer available. If your agency has not rolled out the employee self-service feature of the enrollment tool that allows employees to enter their own elections into eBenefitsNow, it is strongly recommended that employee self-service is rolled out prior to Annual Enrollment or in conjunction with Annual Enrollment, as there are no longer paper applications available to capture employee elections.

If you have any questions or need help on how to roll out the employee self-service feature to your employees, please contact your Benefitfocus Account Manager.

  • Partial Payments
Through the reconciliation process, it has come to the Plan's attention that some groups are submitting partial payments for employees who are in fully contributory status. Members must pay in full to remain on the Plan. Members will be terminated after one billing cycle without the premiums being paid in full. The termination date will be the last day of the month through which full premiums have been paid.

  • Canceling Coverage for Future Terms
The 2012/2013 plan year will be loaded into the eBenefitsNow system for all groups by March 5; therefore, HBRs will be able to cancel coverage with a termination date of July 31, 2012, or later.
