The UCSF/UC Hastings Consortium on Law, Science & Health Policy is proud to announce the one-year Master of Studies in Law at UC Hastings! Administered by the Consortium, the Master of Studies in Law (MSL) degree is a one-year legal degree for individuals with backgrounds in the natural, social and health sciences whose work or career would benefit from a better understanding of the law. The degree can be pursued either full-time (i.e., two semesters (26 weeks)) or part-time.
The UC Hastings MSL provides an extensive introduction to the law and legal processes. It is designed for science and health professionals who want to equip themselves with a sophisticated understanding of legal reasoning and doctrine, but who do not need the three-year J.D. degree.
MSL students have access to the full spectrum of course offerings at UC Hastings. This includes courses in core legal doctrine, such as constitutional law, contracts, evidence, and torts, as well as courses focusing specifically on the application of law to the sciences, such as health law, forensic science, or intellectual property law.
Application Deadline
The Application Deadline for the MSL is March 1, 2012, and admissions decisions will be made on a rolling basis.
