Lowell Sun features UTEC Op-Ed:

The Cost of Violence

Newsletter - Dance Drop Shadow Image

Today's Lowell Sun features an opinion piece outlining UTEC's belief in the importance of continued funding of the Governor's plan to eliminate youth violence, specifically the "Safe and Successful Youth Initiative" (SSYI) that targets the state's most proven risk youth.

Given budget deliberations that are ongoing at the Massachusetts Statehouse, we wanted to share this perspective on the social and economic value of a long-term commitment to youth violence prevention and intervention services. Special thanks to the Lowell Police Department, the lead applicant for Lowell's SSYI program, which has taken the lead on numerous state and federal grants to reduce violence and increase youth opportunities in our City. UTEC and other advocates across the state are asking the legislature to continue fully funding SSYI and other aspects of the Governor's plan to eliminate youth violence.
