Greetings!

Happy New Year!  We had our first round of Hard Hat Tours in December and they were a great success.  One of our teens, Xavier Rosario, told his UTEC story to a group of interested visitors.  Then we took off on a tour of the building, talking to teens in the work crews as we went along.

When construction is finished, we aim to be the first LEED Platinum certified building in the Merrimack Valley and the oldest LEED Platinum certified building in the country! Please consider contributing or sponsoring to our efforts.

The next Hard Hat Tours will be held Wednesday, January 11th at 8am and 9:30am at 34 Hurd Street in Lowell.  Sign up for one of the tours here! Please join us to see our progress and learn about green sustainability right here in Lowell!

Sponsorship opportunity details can be found in the Hard Hat tour Sponsorship Form.

More info on our overall  building campaign can be found on the Green Building fact sheet or on our website.

Please help us expand our ability to help the young people here at UTEC!  Donate now or mail your contribution to United Teen Equality Center, 34 Hurd St, Lowell, MA 01852, Attn: Kait Schlegel.

Please do not hesitate to call either one of us with any questions. Thanks again for all the support.  We hope to see you and your colleagues on January 11th!

What the New Building Means

New Building

The completed building will double UTEC's capacity to help the highest-risk youth of Lowell. The new addition will have dedicated classrooms, multimedia labs, and a youth-run café! The commercial kitchen and café will create permanent jobs and allow for the expansion of our culinary arts program. The classrooms will double the number of available spots in our workforce and education programming. The conference center and rental space will help UTEC further serve the needs of our community.

UTEC has been expanding since we were founded by teens in 1999, and now we will have a home that grows with us. Contributions and donations help to purchase computers for the alternative education programs, A/V studio equipment, dance studio supplies, café furnishings, kitchen appliances, and other final finishes for the interior of the building.

Most importantly, a donation from you will help us achieve our ultimate mission of trading violence and poverty for social and economic success for all the youth we serve.
