Greetings!

Hope all is well!  As you may know, UTEC is renovating our existing facility (built in 1839) and building a brand new 7,500 sq ft addition!  We invite you to come see our progress at UTEC's Hard Hat Tours! This new building will not only be a beacon for GREEN construction and sustainability throughout the Merrimack Valley, it will allow us to double our capacity to serve young people in Lowell!

We are aiming to be the first LEED Platinum certified building in Lowell and the oldest LEED Platinum certified building in the country! Please consider contributing or sponsoring before the end of the year to help us bridge the final gap by raising $135,400!

The Hard Hat Tours will be held Thursday, December 15th at 8am and 9:30am, and on Wednesday, January 11th at 8am and 9:30am at 34 Hurd Street in Lowell.  Sign up for one of the 4 tours here! Please join us to see our progress and learn about green sustainability right here in Lowell!

Sponsorship opportunity details can be found in the Hard Hat tour Sponsorship Form.

More info on our overall  building campaign can be found on the Green Building fact sheet or on our website.

Please help us achieve our dreams and expand our ability to help the young people here at UTEC!  Donate now or mail your contribution to United Teen Equality Center, 34 Hurd St, Lowell, MA 01852, Attn: Kait Schlegel.

Please do not hesitate to call me with any questions. Thanks again for all the support.  We hope you and your colleagues join us on either December 15th or January 11th!

Imagine your logo flying high on the top of UTEC's new green building for a period of time before and after our event. You can be a part of a great cause while also enjoying a unique marketing opportunity for your business. Visibility highlights include:

  • Hard Hat Tour with your banner prominently featured
  • Access to others who share your commitment to sustainability and youth development
  • Continued visibility to Lowell's residents, visitors and downtown businesses
Permanent opportunities are also available to reach the hundreds of anticipated annual visitors to UTEC's Green building.

What the New Building Means

New Building

The completed building will double UTEC's capacity to help the highest-risk youth of Lowell. The new addition will have dedicated classrooms, multimedia labs, and a youth-run café! The commercial kitchen and café will create permanent jobs and allow for the expansion of our culinary arts program. The classrooms will double the number of available spots in our workforce and education programming. The conference center and rental space will help UTEC further serve the needs of our community.

UTEC has been expanding since we were founded by teens in 1999, and now we will have a home that grows with us. Contributions and donations help to purchase computers for the alternative education programs, A/V studio equipment, dance studio supplies, café furnishings, kitchen appliances, and other final finishes for the interior of the building.

Most importantly, a donation from you will help us achieve our ultimate mission of trading violence and poverty for social and economic success for all the youth we serve.
