Summer is definitely here, and if you own a pool you should be running your pool filter to keep your pool in top shape. Cleaning your filter is a critical part of pool maintenance that cannot be skipped, as this will keep your filtration system operating properly, moving water and chemicals through the pool to maintain both chemical balance and cleanliness.

The goal should be to re-cycle the water in your pool twice daily, and that means running the filters 24 hours per day on low speed if you have a 2-speed pump. This is especially important in the summer time where you need continuous circulation and chlorination.

Sometimes cartridge filters occasionally need to be "de-greased" with detergent because of things like body and suntan oils. This can be accomplished by soaking the filters in detergent overnight.
