Q: I need to remove vinyl lettering from my boat. Can I use Vinyl Off to remove individual letters on the transom of a fiberglass boat?
A: CrystalTek actually has several products that are excellent for use on fiberglass including our Vinyl-Off. Spray a small amount of Vinyl-Off onto a paper towel or clean cloth and apply only to the vinyl you want to remove. Wait a minute or two, apply enough heat to make the substrate, (in your case the area of the transom you are working on) warm to your touch, pick up a corner using a plastic blade or even your finger nail, and pull at a thirty-five degree angle. Use caution on plastic and re-painted surfaces.
Q: We are looking for a product that will remove vinyl graphics from canopy fascias. Do you have anyone with experience with this product. And, what was the results.
A: We received more than a few testimonials about removing cut vinyl from canopies. Our recomendation is to spray Vinyl-Off onto a clean cloth or four folded paper towel and apply only to vinyl selected for removal then warm** and remove.
**Works best if surface of substrate is warm to your touch so "light" use of a heat gun may be needed. If you leave a lot of adhesive behind it is usually because to much heat was used or you left Vinyl-Off on too long. Q: What if my graphics feel slimy while using your vinyl removal products? A: If you have ended up with an ooey gooey mess then more than likely you are using too much product, decrease the amount of Vinyl Off you're using. Remember a little bit goes a long way! Q: How does this work on printed graphics that have been laminated with a 3M or LG product that is vinyl based? A: Our 104 still works with a change in timing. Usually a longer dwell time is necessary because we are migrating through two vinyl layers as well as two adhesive structures and the density of each may vary as well. Our suggestion is to test on a small area by starting to remove in whatever manner the tech determines is appropriate then stop, apply Vinyl-Off, wait five minutes or so then apply a little heat then pull. Results should be apparent. ** another trick we've found is to use 100 grit sanding sponge to lightly "rough" the surface before applying remover. This will allow the Vinyl Off to penetrate through the lamination and graphics and do its job of attacking the adhesive.
